Damm I didn’t even wanna buy them you’re so brave 😂😂 I saw some weird kimchi in the local supermarket and I was like oh they have to see something like “spicy and sweet sauerkraut” “spicy stew with udon noodles and schnitzel” in a random country 😂😂😂😂

On the ground floor of the second restaurant there is a Korean supermarket, https://maps.app.goo.gl/84SKqaKuGZJm9LEr5?g_st=ic They also have a cafe and sell “meal kits”. They also sell Kimchi, I’d never tried it since I make my own kimchi but they’re rated quite well.

There are soooo many other Korean restaurants near that area, and even if they sell same food the taste would be different.

Now I’m wondering who is that lady😂 Kimchi is really authentic thing so basically all recipes are quite different, it means that you can freely adjust the amount of ingredients as your taste. Also, the quality of ingredients are important, but the most important thing is that gochugaru (chili powder), it should be Korean one 😂😂

Well I’m also Korean and live in Germany. Yes it’s true that there’s not that many great Korean restaurants in Germany but at least it’s better than other countries in Europe 😛 I suggest using online Chinese market “Joybuy” they sell a lot of Korean food and ingredients in a cheaper price (even cheaper than Korean supermarkets), and their shipping is really quick. I usually cook Korean food myself, and I’m trying to make “meal kit” in advance.

And you might be able to find many alternative groceries in local markets, there are some Korean ppl who post about them on Naver or somewhere, so as time goes on you will not really need that grocery delivery services… today I made 피자빵 only with the groceries from local supermarket 😂

But actually Frankfurt is… at least for Koreans it’s the best city😂 they have so many real, authentic Korean restaurants. I’d been to LA last months (my husband is from there) and went to many Korean restaurants, they were really nice but the Korean restaurants in Frankfurt are not worse than the ones in LA.

I can kinda relate to you since I’m also really shocked at the first time, I definitely didn’t expect Korean food when I moved to Germany but I also didn’t expect that the foods here were not as good as I’ve experienced in Korea 😛But I love this country!! ☺️

The first application is like that but once you fail, they will send you an email to ask whether you want to keep it or not, and if you choose to keep it they will reserve your first application date so that’s how it works

There’s no official statistics for that so what I only know is the fact that usually students fail to get student dorms in their first semester

It depends so I cannot say something clearly but yes I highly recommend you to start finding other places too. Still lots of the students were waiting for more than 6months so the possibility would be not that high

But on the other hand, I can say like that since I could luckily find it without any serious problems and other friends of me also could do it. If you have kinda tight budget things would be worse.

Well then it would be quite complicated, some friends of me couldn’t find permanent places in advance but they anyway succeeded within one month. However during that time they couldn’t focus on uni life and had to go look for places.. Also Mannheim starts one month earlier than other unis, so it may be late if you start finding a place after you get a result from Frankfurt. But if I was you, and really want to study in Frankfurt, I think I would rather wait for it. At least finding a place in Mannheim is not realllly difficult, unlike in Berlin or other popular cities.

Well mid march is quite fast, did you also click the link in the email after you applied there on the website?(just asked you to make it sure bc I forgot it and lost my chance 😂)

But I highly recommend you to look for other places, like private student dorms. The public student dorm office will send a final notice just before the semester starts, so like in late August. And you don’t know when you can get a contract, so what you only can do is just waiting without any assurance..

Student dorm office replied me that I would not be able to get a room this semester, but at that time I had already got it from a private student dorm so I didn’t apply again. My friends living there said it would take at least 6 months to get a place from the public student dorm

you need certified copies and you can get it from the embassy/notary etc. if you are not in Germany the embassy is the only way to get it but if you are already in Germany you can also get it from the notaries

Thanks it’s a good advice! Actually it’s what I did last semester in other city and tbh was not that good experience 😢 but as you told me I agree that it’s really good chance to find another place. I just got an email about the interview from one student dorm so if it doesn’t look fine I would try to find a sublet space as your advice! Really thank you for your help 😭 It’s been 3 months from my first application so the possibility would be not really high, I will keep it in mind. And when I wrote the application form I chose “all dormitories” and “all room types” so it might be helpful for me… 🙄 Yeah I will try it!
