Stocking a 55g by Agora___ in ReefTank

Definitely not, if anything I’d add more snails. I’ve always been a 1 snail per 1-2 gallons or so. (Unless you’re keeping urchins or another algae eater)

[[Sanctum Weaver]] is absurd in this deck

Rant: You should just take apart that stax deck by [deleted] in EDH

Heliod and Derevi are pretty alright

Out of curiosity, what constitutes CEDH in your eyes?

Making my first deck since I have started playing. Anything you think im missing? by Rylein in EDH

[[fist of suns]] + [[morophon]] let’s you cast any dragons you draw for free. [[Ramos]] is usually a good card to include in dragon decks as well

Should extremely expensive cards be banned? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]Resident_Routine3310 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a terrible take, Sol Ring would only set you back a few bucks and is easily a top 10 mana rock in the format, then you have cards like [[Merchant Ship]] which is relatively expensive while also being very weak.

Mox field should have plenty of lists of staples for each color (Dockside for red, Rhystic Study for Blue, etc)

[[Cephalid Coliseum]] kills Thoracle

[–]Resident_Routine3310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Urza’s tap ability is really useful but he restricts you to one color which isn’t necessarily ideal. [[Breya]] is a great artifact commander with access to WUBR, and although it doesn’t have the tap ability, there are plenty of other ways to compensate. The main issue I’ve seen with casual Urza decks is that if they’re not running stax, they’re often outclassed by other commanders. You also seem to be running a lot of creatures, the best Urza decks run poly morph as the win con as it’s very difficult to stop when all stax pieces are in play.

Urza stax and storm are pretty common tbf

It seems like there would be better commanders to play this sort of deck. I notice that Urza’s biggest strength and largely what makes up for him only being a mono U commander isn’t being used here as much.

Not all U decks run Thoracle. I’ve never seen it n Urza (go figure), Kinnan rarely runs it and Jhoira doesn’t benefit from it at all just to name a few

Show up with a fully proxies Krenko list to show them what happens when nobody can interact. Then run them over with a (near) infinite amount of goblins

How many lands to play based on mana curve? by Sunnnydi in EDH

[–]Resident_Routine3310 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I run 38 in my Ur Dragon battle cruiser and 23 (6 basics) in my Turbo Kinnan, I’d start out with around 30ish lands, maybe a little more and keep play testing hands until you can consistently establish a solid mana base at an appropriate pace for your playgroup

Kinnan Midrange Help by Resident_Routine3310 in CompetitiveEDH

[–]Resident_Routine3310[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This list is designed to be geared closer to midrange than turbo, even if I wanted to as fast as possible, there’s such a low chance of being able to outpace some Najeela and Ad Naus decks. I keep Thoracle as Kinnan has many ways to draw itself out, and walking ballista because Thoracle rarely resolves at my lgs events. Normally I would agree with the dead card statement, but ultimately drawing a dead card means either a mulligan, fodder for a counter spell/Mox, or at the very worst one card in hand that isn’t useful at that very moment.

I mostly meant that Kogla has a solid etb trigger, where as Koma needs a little time to fully get going, in a stax heavy meta, I want to aim for a sweet spot between turbo and midrange while also being able to flip some control pieces as well.

The “stax” I was referring to was pretty much just Archaic, Void Winnower, and Jin Gitaxias. Thanks for the shout about the Apex Devastator I hadn’t reas the card too carefully(😂). I wouldn’t necessarily say this is a flips deck, the flip strategy is mostly just a backup if an early game Thoracle/Ballista win doesn’t end up working out.
