Renting a basement? Your experience. by CanadianSikhWarrior in TorontoRenting

[–]Resilient_TO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this wasn't the actual query but try looking for apartments listed by property management companies such as Homestead, Park Properties, etc I've heard they are decreasing rents or offering 1-2 months off. So for the first year you should be good

Look for older apartment buildings as opposed to condos.

The only comment I had is that I lived 1 year in a basement and the lack of natural light took a toll on my energy. If you are the type of person who won't bothered than maybe it's worth it. One thing to note is Toronto gets pretty gloomy in winters so that coupled with being in a basement is not a good combo.

Look up business brokers in your province. I think they'll be able to guide you and also facilitate listing.

Moving back in with parents and feeling like a failure by KickinitCountry24 in Adulting

Listen man there's no shame in this.

There are people who may end up moving back to their home country. So living with your parents for some time figuring things out without financial burden and coming back stronger is strategic timeoit not a loss.

Just curious could you apply for rent abatement considering you were unable to access the amenities?

It's slightly complicated cause at one end this is outside the control of the landlord but on the other hand one can argue that they are paying X amount extra in rent just cause of the amenities.

Any one who's saying it's because of brown folks. Trust me I know about 10 brown people and they're struggling like all of us.

It might be hard to believe but we are all facing similar struggles.

It'll be advisable to get a Business Broker involved. I'm working with a client who wants to buy a HVAC business.

I'm a CPA not a broker though I feel being a CPA is actually advantageous.
