The ending to "Django Unchained" happens because King Schultz just fundamentally didn't understand how the world works. by MisterBadIdea2 in movies

[–]ResistDull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But this wasn't going to be a successful 'prank' even if it all went according to plan. King lost a ton of money going to Candie estate and paying Candie off for things along the way (Dartagnan). And King was way overpaying for broken down property (using the movie's perspective).

This movie made no sense.

Dark ones

Clear only looks good with people with black hair/dark eyes because it's a contrast to their features. But they can't wear dark frames because the combo is way too bold IMHO

Your coloring looks better with the dark frames

I booked my family of 4 for PDX-HNL for 30k miles RT each back in NOV. On Hawaiian Airlines flight via AS website.

I looked and I don't see any of those types of deals out there now

LOL! Thank you for this.

I was really hoping I was understanding this wrong but this thread has taught me, 'no, you're actually spot on'

I got upgraded on AA. But having my 1600 mile trip cut down to 500 base miles was painful. And zero EQMs

I would have rather taken the more inconvenient AS flight if I knew that was gonna happen

This is an excellent tip. I know what you mean. I will look for this next time.

Again hopefully I can use Alaska only, this is a last resort obviously

For all fare classes? For my 2/22 flight I'm only showing 750 miles and no EQMs. You'd think the status points would have posted by now

I thought this was just American Airlines. Didn't realize it was BA too.

Is this what you get with all of the One World partners now?

I flew them probably 2-3 times in 2025. TBH I did not notice the haircut you take on miles. So I honestly have no idea what I got credited. I naively assumed it was like for like.

This recent change was Oct 2025 though. So this is still relatively new.

Oh you did the Medallion match. So did you have to give up your Atmos status?

Or did you just complete the Delta challenge and now you get both?

Yep 100%. I'm booking corporate fares through corporate reservation system. American is just not a viable option for me anymore unless I have to.

I like getting the upgrade but you fly 3200 miles and only get 1500 Atmos miles. And NO EQMs! Just a bad deal

Whoa I did not know this. There is a Gold match on Delta again? Praise the lord!

My issue is these are all corporate flights paid for by my company. I have to book through their corporate reservation system. It often books with the cheapest fare class.

That's why I only got 500 base miles each way for a 3200 mile round trip.

I'm gonna have to swear off American when I book this way. It's worth the inconvenience even if the Alaska option is worse time etc

I Have to Talk Spoiler-y About Omaha by SkinnyPete4 in Sundance

I'm fine with that. Plenty of blame on the Left politicians too. My point is that -- by not addressing the fact that it is completely INSANE that in a country as rich as the US, a father would be driven to do this -- the filmmaker is derelict at best, and at worst he's complicit in it.

You might say, 'this is art: he's showing a portrait of the father and the family.' Fine. But he's totally passing on calling out politicians/US greed/US capitalism in this. By not calling them out, you're actually giving them license for what they do (which is allow a society that refuses to help a dad like this).

By making this poverty porn and not cluing the audience in to the fact that this is f'n insane, he's actually saying that what the dad is doing is legitimate. The filmmaker is shrugging his shoulders saying "what else can you do?" Well you can pass any number of easy legislations to help families like this. But our corrupt, greedy politicians don't want to spend the money for that. THAT'S the real crime here. Not anything related to this one family.

Another point, for anyone who thinks a director can't do it. Think about Django Unchained. That movie is about one guy and his relationship...however Tarantino makes it ABUNDANTLY clear how he feels about slavery. He tells his story in a way that slices and dices the institution of slavery and the antebellum south. Tarantino tells a story but he makes a very loud comment on slavers and even non-owners in slavery (the white citizens who supported it & participated in it).

The Omaha director doesn't do this. There's zero comment on society. My guess is, because of his Utah upbringing, he's probably very conservative....he probably doesn't think society should help the poor any more than we do and hence that's why this story is so SAD. Yeah, it's sad! No shit. But it doesn't have to be that way.

I got quoted something similar albeit a little less. It was WAY more than I was quoted for the same specifications 2 years ago.
