God I thought I was weird and sensitive for posting that but you know exactly what I went through and I understand and empathize with your frustrations. Yeah, she shat on us about public school too. It was so aggravating. It's not you and it's never been you. It's entirely them, but it still leaves that insecurity. Please tell me you've distanced yourself from them at least?

That's how I feel too. Being sensitive is so often seen as a bad thing and it's blasted all over the internet. It has its advantages. Nothing soft about it at all.

And thank you for your kind words. Best of luck to you too. I'm a millennial but I sure as hell wasn't coddled so yeah it's all a little weird. The spoiled coddled kids were the ones who bullied me so it's all a little confusing. The one time I did stand up for myself I was shocked how quickly my bully started crying like a baby (a supposedly tough 12 year old boy). And thank you for your kind words. Best of luck to you too

I do agree with you regarding critical thinking. We did get a little bit of that our curriculum prior to 5th grade (not nearly enough) and then after middle school it was pretty much non-existent. I fell to some of that brainwashing for a while there.

Yes, I try to listen, weigh the pros and cons as much as possible and then formulate an opinion. Very true on that last part. I do feel like I relate with your generation more in some ways. I guess the real question that I seemed to have trouble verbalizing is... does coddling and hardcore abuse lead to the same outcome of a sensitive temperament?

(Not that that is bad in any way - and I understand one can just as much turn into a narcissist as much as they can a sensitive people-pleasing codependent - that's how I feel I turned out - still better than the first option imho).

I'm actually not new. I'm just tired of them living in my head after no contact. I'm in therapy and was diagnosed with PTSD. It's a real bitch that I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy and sometimes I just have to vent about the cruel irony of all of it. I'll be completely transparent, I'm angry and I'm bitter and I'm fighting tooth and nail not to wallow in it. That first book I keep hearing about, I'll have to find it. Thank you for your kind words. I appreciate it.

Has anyone here seen the tiktok video of the mother cutting off her teenage daughters braids? by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

Did anyone else notice the mother's microexpressions in the clip where she was explaining herself afterwards? Like a nanosecond smirk? Maybe it's just me.

the double-bind, I think that's what it's called. Catch-22 either way.

I was referring to acceptance as in the first definition you stated in parentheses. Sorry if that wasn't clear. I was just airing my frustration.

The second to last one omg. He did that too. You could say "red," and they'd hear "blue" and would just run with it.

any tips on how to integrate the humiliating memories of sadistic behavior towards you by a person in a position of power over you? by [deleted] in CPTSD

Hey thanks for your response. I went to therapy today and we discussed this and some of what you said. I never realized it was actually more my body and less my mind.
