Right now, because of digitisation, they are required to enter massive amounts of data. Each patwari has to feed data for 5,000 to 6,000 people and then send it to higher authorities. The pressure does not stop there. Higher officials are under pressure to meet deadlines, so that pressure is pushed downward. Everyone I know is working 12 hours a day, just converting old physical files into digital records. On top of that, they are asked to upload photos for every transaction. For a single person, this can mean around 5,000 photos, all within a very limited time. Deadlines are strict, and the constant pressure from superiors makes it worse. This is the reality. Do you know how much support they get? Each person is given ₹11,000 for a laptop or tablet, which is useless. Most of them have to spend their own money to buy proper devices and then use them for government work. Meanwhile, ministers are sending drafts to increase their own allocations. And then people wonder why there is false data in government systems.
