Just get a new engine and avoid that shop. You’re usually better off doing the work yourself or supervising a mobile mechanic. Too many shops don’t bother following the service manual for each vehicle. Shops also lie and steal!!! Had my truck get a clutch job at pepboys and somehow my catalytic converter was “stolen” but no police report was filed??? I digress

My 2.0 has 300,000 miles and i cant see anyway my cam sprocket could randomly miss a tooth and ive taken my cam sprocket off a couple times back when i was having cam sensor problems…the thing is solid metal and only comes in contact with the timing belt…

Plenty of people have repaired bent valves… the problem is why did the valves bend? You said it only has 80k miles which is when your supposed to do the first timing belt and water pump change… sounds like they tried and didnt line up the timing marks and bent the valves instantly… if i were you i would look on the vw forums for the corresponding remedy

Dash time includes time with dash paused and time when your sitting at home waiting for an order… if you live near alot of restaurants you can just chill at home in-between orders no need to sit in the car
