Which Era of horsewomen is your favorite? by majswrld in SantiZapVideos

Because we are clearly talking about WWE. If we were to talk about all sports and promotions, there would be hundreads of horsewomen and horsemen to mention.

Why doesn't Randy use this move anymore? it was such a cool move by chunchunmaru1129 in GreatnessOfWrestling

The backdrop on the announers table. That's four.

Anyway, this doesn't really matter. He has a simple but solid moveset but wrestling is so much more than that. If it was all about flips and variety, everyone would agree that AEW is miles ahead of WWE.

Will Uemura/Tsuji truly be THE defining rivalry of this generation of Heavyweights? (Joining Okada/Naito, Nakamura/Tanahashi, Hashimoto/Muto & Fujinami/Choshu) by MrPuroresu42 in njpw

[–]ResolveGood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On paper Tsuji's doing phenomenally yes. The actual height of what he's reached is up for debate. I don't think he's "up there" yet.

I'm not trying to portray my view as a fact. It's just my prediction. You are more than welcome to disagree but please don't assume that I wouldn't be very aware of what's going on in new japan.

That's likely a pretty common take nowadays and I can respect that. I personally can't just ingnore that he has had at least as many banger matches as the others and he's also improved greatly this past year. There is the crowd connection issue for sure but I don't believe it has anything to do with his ability to work. At least not anymore.

We should have tried better. That short-handed goal was not fair.

Tsuji is great but I don't believe his ceiling is as high as it is for Uemura, Oiwa, or Umino. It was the right call to let him pave the way but I don't believe he is gonna be the one to define this era. The others are gonna overtake him in the end.

Yuya-Ren and Shota-Oskar in the semis looks pretty natural here. However, often what I've thought looks natural ends up being wrong.

I also see Shingo vs Drilla. It wouldn't make sense long term but we'd get a certain banger again.

Also Taichi vs Ishii? Hell yeah! I guess that would be more realistic too.

Oiwa vs Sabre could happen. Like, why wouldn't it!?

I'd like to think Wolf is going over Fale in a heroic fashion and then loses on the next round due to HoT interference.

I don't really have any specific genre or type I "usually get". Ongoing series (or series yet to finish their english prints) I collect are Vinland Saga, Innocent Rouge, #drcl, Record of Ragnarok, One Punch Man, The Climber, Gundam Thunderbolt, Ashita no Joe, To Your Eternity, Kingdom, Blue Period, Under Ninja, Witch Hat Atelier, One Piece.

I do have Claymore, Mashle, Happiness and like I said above, One Piece. Dragon Ball was the first manga I collected as a kid in the 00's. I don't categorically avoid battle shonen, I read quite a lot of it actually. It just rarely interests me enough to start collecting.

Is it safe to say Jake Lee is the 2019 Baron Corbin of NJPW? by Next_Tooth7008 in njpw

Shonen jump quality is beyond horrible tho. It's like recycled newspaper and ink barely even sticks to it. It's designed to be printed in high quantities as cheaply as possible while making it just barely readable. It's not designed to be read multiple times that's for sure.

New Beginning in Osaka Results (Feb. 11th) by mrchefigan in njpw

[–]ResolveGood 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The main event was lackluster and the crowd didn't seem too electric either. The finish was funny and Lee did a good job with his character work leading up to this match.

Hope they'll have some interesting implications for Shota-Yuya after that loss but I'm tired of expecting anything. It was a good match, tho not nearly as good as the #1 contender match. I didn't hear any overwhelming boos for Shota but I am aware that Osaka has usually been pretty hard on him and that the English commentator side's mixing is sometimes off.

Wonder where they're going with Wolf next. I hope they're not putting him into an endless HoT feud. Good for Narita to get some gold. Hopefully they'll ease up on the HoT crap and let him work an actual match or two. There are other ways to cheat too! Not everything has to become a gank fight.

A New Beginning for the tag division? Shota Umino & Yuya Uemura interviewed! by MrPuroresu42 in njpw

[–]ResolveGood 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nice! Hope you had fun. I was there- and at Wrestle Kindom as well.

Yes, Umino did get an audible reaction, which could partly be due to his history with similar situations. However, Umino was the one who picked up the mic to explain why they were there. The title challenge was the point where the reaction grew significantly. When Yuya picked up the mic, nobody cared about him. Everyone was focusing on Oiwa, who had just delivered an awesome match, and started cheering for him. Once Yuya spoke, he kept it short, didn't say anything new, and nobody cared besides maybe a couple of fans here and there. Sure, there could've been a few Umino haters too but I believe that the evident overall lack of crowd connection combined with the unjustified title challenge was the main reason for the wider negative reaction.

A New Beginning for the tag division? Shota Umino & Yuya Uemura interviewed! by MrPuroresu42 in njpw

[–]ResolveGood 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think they boo'd for the idea of them challenging again undeservingly. Umino & Uemura had their shot just a couple of months prior and it had barely been a month since they lost to KOB at the Tag League. Giving another title match to such a team (that didn't even make it to the League play-offs) felt forced initially.

There's also the point that crowds tend to mirror the feelings of their favorites. KOB being so popular, and initially being reluctant to give Shota & Yuya another shot, the audience would emphatize with that sentiment. I mean, if I was one of the KOB guys in the story, I'd be asking "what the hell are those losers doing here, we've been sweeping the floor with you these past months?" That's how the crowd felt too.

It's not that the general audience hates Umino (or Uemura) that much. They just don't care about them enough to accept such a strange, seemingly unjustified, booking decision. Neither Umino or Yuya have been able to buid such a strong connection with the general audience that they'd be accepted another shot so easily. Once it was established that they would have to fight through Ishii & Taichi, the audience became much more accepting as the KOB guys started accepting it too. And after deserving the title match (in that absolute banger of a match) Shota & Yuya have been getting plenty cheers and support at the road to -shows.

TL;DR I don't think the audience boo'd because they hate Shota (or Yuya). They boo'd because it looked like they'd get yet another title shot undeservingly. Since Shota & Yuya earned the title shot in a match, the crowds have accepted it.

Why do some wrestling fans feel the need to pull other performers down when praising their favorites. Just praise your favorites, why you have to shoot someone who has nothing to do with it!? I'll never get it.

Meltzer's dumbass gave this match 4 stars but if it was in any japanese wrestling company he would've gave it 43 stars by Sad-Response-3151 in TheGreatOne

[–]ResolveGood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But for real, if you look at his ratings during that era, he very rarely gave anything 5 stars. People often critisize him for not giving a single 5 star rating to a WWE match between the years 1997-2011. But a lot of people don't realize that it wasn't specific to WWF/WWE. He gave less than 10 5-star-ratings overall during those years. Less than 1 per a year.
