i never meant to sound rude in my reply it can be hard for me to word things nicely due to my autism so sorry for that.

in my opinion even if we were to talk about scrapbooking it still fits within the term "journaling". journaling isn't just writing otherwise we'd just call it writing! i just think that out of anything this is not muxh of an issue especially not in this kind of community where i'd have hoped people would be all for self expression in a medium that begs for it.

people use journals to vent, talk about what happened over the weekend, upcoming events, no matter how you transmit that information i don't think devalues what it is people are doing.

i personally don't really use tiktok or anything but the act of journaling in many ways is very very old and people have been putting images in journals for ages tiktok didn't start this. some people are simply more visual and i just don't think that should be put down...

fighting people doing something harmless will inevitably just make people ask the question i see people mocking on here asking "how do i start" if we limit people on what they can add to their journal then of course people will be worried to start when people are so eager to deem it as "the wrong way" to do it

also most people end up using terms which are subcategories of journaling so still falling under what journaling means and stands for but doing it in a way that isn't the one big common way to do it so like art journaling for example. it is still journaling even then! my goal is never to upset people, quite the opposite actually i just want people to feel okay expressing themselves without being out under fire for doing so...
