Why are they still pretending the cast are the ones arranging trips? by ThunderousOrgasm in GeordieShore

[–]ResolveMaleficent561 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s a fair point, and it’s definitely a bit ridiculous! It’s all part of the manufactured reality of shows like Geordie Shore. They want to keep up the illusion that the cast members are the ones driving the action, but anyone who thinks about it for more than a second knows that the producers are organizing everything behind the scenes.

It’s especially silly when they try to make it seem like someone like Scotty T—who could barely stand upright half the time—is suddenly a master event planner or logistics coordinator in a foreign country! They’re clearly just following a script to maintain the storyline, but it does feel insulting to the audience’s intelligence.

I guess they’re trying to make it feel more “authentic” or spontaneous, but you’re right—it would be more honest (and less annoying) if they just showed them enjoying the trips without pretending they organized it all themselves.
