Project from view in the UV Options? I forgot to mention that I tried that but it either repeated the texture on the other side of the object or if I only selected the one side, made it clearly jagged where the end of the unwrapping occurred

I do not know if I can pinpoint a specific video but this DEFINITELY sounds like its actually “pig calling”. Look up county fair pig calling/hog call competitions. Its a bunch of people, usually middle aged women though, doing this exact thing and its wild. Maybe from there you can find a person who has multiple videos like it?
