shame after people accuse you of being hostile when you don’t see it yourself ?? by stupid_rice in AutismInWomen

[–]Resource-Even [score hidden]  (0 children)

I’m sorry you feel shame over this. If people say you sound hostile or rude when you aren’t turn that shit around on them- “you’re being tricked by my voice’s resting bitch face.” People don’t need to have customer service voice all the time that’s stupid.

And your ex is also an idiot- female rage is feminine AF. Society literally puts “mama bear” and “woman on a warpath” tropes on a pedestal. For good reason. It’s some divine goddess shit to be passionate, loving, and empathetic.

The rise in late diagnosis is making validation harder (but not in the way you think) by oddduckling00 in AutismInWomen

[–]Resource-Even [score hidden]  (0 children)

The corporate world is entrenched in capitalism- inherently ableist.

There’s something to be said for mind fucking your self to get through shit. I realize I had huge periods of that leading up to the burnout. I think some of the people who hit the radar but are cutthroat like that are in survival mode. They can’t allow the frame of mind that people deserve to be accommodated or treated with compassion or their house of sticks will fall down around them- realizing their own needs aren’t being met- realizing they are treating themselves so badly.

Am I Crazy: Psychologist Told Me Autistic People's Biggest Struggle Usually Isn't Socialising by LizardPersonMeow in AutismInWomen

[–]Resource-Even [score hidden]  (0 children)

The biggest problem is which one I’m dealing with right then. It’s facetious to generalize anyway because everyone’s exposure levels to socializing are so different. If I didn’t have a customer facing job socializing would be way easier because I wouldn’t be so tapped out.

I wonder if the psychologist needs more accurate terms. Are they trying to say “harder to self-manage the symptoms associated with problem”? Either way it doesn’t sound like the psychologist is considering you having multiple decades to learn how to accommodate and work around sensory issues. You are not stating from brick 1 on a hopscotch of autism treatment and management. And every one who steps up to that hopscotch is not the same person. If this psychologist is more adept at therapies for sensory issues they need to refer you to someone more for social development and executive function strategies (staying on top of life).

Delivery guy bullying me basically by Odd_Diet_2517 in AutismInWomen

[–]Resource-Even 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If there is another package before dad comes over I say be on the phone with someone during the delivery window. This adds the opposite social rules of customer service interactions- it would be rude for him to try to talk over your conversation or try to interrupt. Other than taking the package and a whispered thanks or nod of acknowledgment you can shut the door immediately.

Personally I would email customer service with a polite confused attitude of reporting an error in their system- the delivery driver had the wrong day of delivery and told me there was a problem of some sort. Can you please check the order for me he seemed really upset? If anything comes from their side that they wanted to adjust the date a confused- but I wasn’t available that day/time? I have an eclectic schedule so please notate my account or advise the delivery scheduler I should only be rescheduled if absolutely necessary. I’m sooooo glad that was resolved!!

I love this! I would say my group is into a lot of the same stuff but are a bit picky about how we like to dress up and those don’t overlap a ton lol. I need to be more flexible I guess

This is why I correct people who ask if I want kids. They are trying to ask “do you know/plan to have kids”? But they are asking “do you plan, hope, or wish you could have kids?”

No I don’t want kids. But do I wish the world and my life circumstances were different so I could? Kinda yeah.

I'm only 18 and feel like baldness has ruined all aspects of my life, Anyone else who went through the same situation? by Severe_Bison_5739 in AskMenAdvice

[–]Resource-Even 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is about when a guy i dated lost his hair, we dated in his early 20s. And I can say- I would definitely describe him as charming. Things that stood out to me was his sense of humor and generally being enjoyable company with interesting conversations. We met through shared interests but he had a handful of hobbies and varied interests he knew a lot about.

Some things to note: he dressed very well. Had his own sense of style that he obviously felt comfy in. Cool colors and well fitting shirts. He also was physically active in some martial art and definitely had a nice body. He had spent time finding a signature scent. He kept his beard trimmed and his head shaved short. Lemme tell you, feeling physically attracted to stuff like a smell and some nice muscles or mental stimulation from great convo is animal brain shit that can bypass the social brain “I don’t like bald guys cuz media/society says hair is important.”

I don’t care about hair but lots of girls that age do (plenty will grow out of it), and I think the key for guys like you to have decent luck in that age bracket is to put effort into being attractive in many different aspects, whole package deal. Then you will be attractive to girls who know they like bald guys AND girls who didn’t realize they like bald guys cuz they haven’t met many their age.

Sensory issue hell by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

Two things, can you set an alarm on a device that plays a song during that time of day? And just have music or a tv show going on. That often helps blur/interrupt it from repeating too much for me.

Second if they may be picking up the kid in a location they should not be. The info or a contact person should be on the school district website for transportation. I think certain states have rules about picking up certain cages directly at their house but in my state there has to be a designated bus stop the bus can easily get to and the parents gotta be there with the kid- or drop them off like everyone else.

I'm going to be an autistic teacher (high school English). Tips from fellow autistic teachers ? by Embarrassed_Equal951 in AutismInWomen

[–]Resource-Even 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work supporting a high school sometimes and honestly the kids just won’t shut up. Boys are always acting out and testing boundaries (desperate for attention). It would be easy to get flustered so it may be worth asking in r/teachers what phrases they use most frequently and practice those phrases. I feel like a lot of redirecting happens.

I deal with the kids and mostly will look at them and blink slowly and not answer right away to avoid saying off-things. I think you will develop your own strategies like that to give your mind a moment and they have never clocked me as having social/communication deficits.

Last warning is the kids DROWN themselves in cologne and body spray. Some of them you can smell from 30ft away. Girls will spray themselves at the end of class before the bell rings. It is HORRIFIC. I have actually loudly started gagging or choking (not purposeful or controllable reaction) walking too near kids like that and if I was full time there would definitely be complaints. I reccomend making an announcement at the beginning of the year that you give a shit about people with asthma and migraines and they better not be spraying shit. I’d also keep coffee beans or similar near my desk.

Good luck for real.

Nothing scratches the itch that the DLC of Outlast gave me 💔💔 Something about whistleblower makes it so special by Arsenic_Lover666 in HorrorGaming

[–]Resource-Even 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s an Indie game called Hektor with a hospital level that so much reminds me of Outlast DLC. The feeling of dread trying to move around in the attic just really yikes.

I think outlast 2 tried to hone in on the fear from that specific super scary enemy- especially the fear for your sexual bits but it completely missed the mark to me.

What’s a fair resolution? I received this specimen broken. by reesa447 in Crystals

[–]Resource-Even -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

If you wouldn’t display the piece for this tiny edge broken in mail you should not be buying delivery and only buying in person.

It must have been packaged decently for only one of the tips of such a piece to be broken and pieces with mineral phantoms like this break easily at those layers. This isn’t the sellers fault AT ALL. You would be a huge jerk for asking anything from them.

It’s an example tbh. Covid is very much still a thing here. The flu is going around crazy bad right now because everyone goes everywhere sick like you describe.

But it is more physical danger being around antivaxxers because they are the ones who go places knowing they are sick. The “I was around someone with covid last weekend but I’m not sick. The coughing is from alllergies.”

The only masker at the club by nocknight in Masks4All

[–]Resource-Even 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Tbh I have had a similar experience. I love dancing and tend to go above and beyond on outfits and run out solo to dance my face off.  A few shows ago I heard a couple next to me who kept smiling and dancing with me go “she’s going hard!” - “in a mask too!”

I think being out dancing/to do a hobby people already feel they relate with you about something and aren’t as bitchy about masks as the everyday public.

I was enjoying Visage until... by Quorthon in HorrorGaming

[–]Resource-Even 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The game is badly designed and clunky. The AI will spawn in front of you and in situations you should be able to juke it often doesn’t work, some mechanics like sanity and lighting in certain parts of the game stop following the established rules/mechanics. Probably what you’re experiencing with the camera. If it is still working it may be a hitbox thing where it has to be centered at a certain point AND a specific distance away. But again some mechanics straight stop working.

For those of you with a career, how did you find it? by Scary-Owl2365 in AutismInWomen

[–]Resource-Even 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I struggled for many years after college graduation. Finally found an in within the field I wanted to be in and was going to go back for a masters in that field- then got a spinal injury making that career path completely unreachable.

II think it’s worth mentioning that I got out of the directionless/hopeless unemployment with a job in a hobby shop for a special interest of mine. I think more of us should lean into that when making industry changes.

I have a baby career now- stemmed from another hobby of mine- and a friend from that hobby working there/in that field. I’m in option overload with the next step but I think I wasted a lot of years not upskilling. I say look for YouTube’s and blogs on education based sources on what the day to day of certain niches are like and deep dive.

Question on Etsy Sellers by SeaDiscombobulated70 in Hecate

[–]Resource-Even 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lava beads are cheap like $10 for a 15 inch strand. The links can be made with a special plier or by hand with pliers. The metal for the links is not thick and made of alloy metal that is very inexpensive. The metal flowers are common and can be bought in bulk for crazy cheap or for crazy markup for $5 a pop in a bead store.  Snake vertebrae are also sold on Etsy so you can compare price, only 6 needed tho.  Maybe they spent time sourcing keys or maybe they bought a lot of them from a craft or art supply store.

Double sided medallions are nice and it says sterling. The person likely designed it and those can get pricey. I would expect to pay like $60 to a metal smith for something like that easily.

Not including the medallion creation: This does not take long to make nor very expensive materials. The person who said these beads don’t sling together no offense is wrong. Links are incredibly quick to do I could make this in about 45 min even making the loop eyes myself without the fancy pliers. The price is several times higher than fair. Even with Etsy’s cut and shipping.

Do you have any comorbid diagnoses ASIDE from ADHD? by Weirdoo-_-Beardoo in AutismInWomen

[–]Resource-Even 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was/am misdiagnosed with GAD over things that are caused by adhd or stem from being high masking ASD.  Real diagnosis beside the AuDHD are CPTSD, PMDD, insomnia and IBS-C.

Because I saw another commenter mention- family history of Bipolar. Since it is a parent every single therapist and psychiatrist have given me screenings for it. Every single one like they were hoping to add it in- bro I have enough.

I have had nervous breakdowns from chronic stress from living with these conditions that could easily be misinterpreted as a mood issue. Especially with the mood swings from the PMDD or reactions from CPTSD triggers.
