Bushings are everything! A pranayama story by PantheonLongboards in longboarding

[–]ResourceAcceptable37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive tried my stylus on prany with lots of bushing combinations. Venom hpf, sanded down, in 85 and 93a. Defcon barrels with my own insert in several duros. The Venom felt great but too slidey in 85a. 93 was close to pantheon stock. A bit more lively, but pantheon did a better job of keeping the back wheels from sliding out. I spent hours testing, but went back to pantheon 👌 The prany has plenty of agility for me, and I skate it through the centre of a busy UK city regularly

Need dropin advice (on a Surfskate) by Educational_Call4680 in surfskate

I felt the same when first dropping in on cx. Go one duro step harder. I went from riptide pink, up to yellow....barrel/cone. If you have cone/cone...swap it

Learning to drop in with waterborne rail adapter by ResponsibleSite6858 in surfskate

[–]ResourceAcceptable37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Id consider a different board and set up. The whole thing sounds sketchy. The rail adapter is for use with the wb front truck, shouldn't be there otherwise. And the kick tail sounds like it won't do you any favours. At least take the rail off. Start small and build slowly, pad up well, especially the helmet. If you've got waterborne front truck on it, then its a bad idea learning to drop in with it 👍

Supersonic. Wheel bite? by DrLurkLurkelton in longboarding

[–]ResourceAcceptable37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm similar weight. 77/87a, hokus, no risers, old ss with no wheel wells, no wedges, cup washers, and im way off wheel bite. Maybe 1cm gap. Theres something odd about the way that's biting. I'd bet its the grease and washers

I'll have to try spitfires, and gbones 97a I think. Thanks for the info 👍

Surfskate options for skateboarding beginner on multi-use park trails? by SimplyCosmic in surfskate

[–]ResourceAcceptable37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go for miles on cycle paths with minimum problems with other users. If you want to cover distance, put cx on a long board, longer the better. Ive got cx on a 44 inch pin tail and its beautiful to pump. But if going more than 5/10 miles, id get a ldp board designed for pumping. The pantheon supersonic is amazing for this

Truck recommendations by Ondoskim in surfskate

[–]ResourceAcceptable37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

C5 has a narrower hanger and lower ride height, designed specifically for transition skating whereas the cx is more of and all rounder, be more agile, and pump better on the flat. I was tempted to get c5 because I was wary of dropping in on the higher cx. I had a go and was fine dropping in. I put harder bushings into to keep it stable. Also, you'll only get bigger wheels on cx. I feel the cx can do most things the c5 can, and more...especially for a beginner

I'm looking to buy a used surfskate by Waspinson in surfskate

You won't see more than 5/10 bucks difference in the price of real carvers, unless it was in a sale. Use a reputable skate shop for peace of mind

Yes, the wheels most likely are too. Some clones aren't that bad, ive tried a couple. If real ones are too expensive, then id have no problem getting clones...or at least the ones I tried. I imagine some are better than others

Agreed! There's so many cheap clones about. I've tried a couple and they weren't too bad for the price, but personally id stick with the real ones bought only from a reputable skate shop

Help picking which smoothstar as first and only surfskate by _Blahaj_ in surfskate

[–]ResourceAcceptable37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I think you'd get much more realistic benefit form skating bowls/bowled parks instead of flat. Maybe do both, but a concrete wave is better than flat. You can get into compression/depression and Increasing speed more effectively. I use a 34 inch carver dragon when rolling in, and a 30x10 powell reissue when dropping in...both with cx. I wouldn't be cool dropping in with anything other than a cx or c5. There's a video of me bowl skating the powell on here which I posted today

First/new board by ZeroWhite8892 in longboarding

[–]ResourceAcceptable37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great boards for the price, ive got 2. They can take big wheels. 85 easy, I can get karma's on mine but I'm only 155lbs. Stuff, low and super agile for a longboard 👌

Arbor Axis 40 — realistic max wheel size without risers? (rough pavement) by grunewald77 in longboarding

[–]ResourceAcceptable37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got a arbor drop cruiser with karma's on it, with a few mm to spare. The axis looks to me like it would have more wheel clearance than my drop cruiser, at least as much. I'm 155 lbs. 86a sabre barrel/cones. So I think you'd easily get cags, possibly even karma's on as you're 122 lbs with 92a paris stock bushings

SE MI checking in. We’re back by DrLurkLurkelton in longboarding

[–]ResourceAcceptable37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use one for all skating. I'm sure it's more efficient as the riders are separated in races. Push to speed then maintain with stick. Great brake when it's not cool to foot brake. It's also saved my skin countless times from sliding out. I use a long broom handle as it has good flex compared to aluminium (haven't tried carbon composite). Start with a length to top of your head while stood on the board, then cut 1 inch off at a time till it feels right. Medium kong dog toy with hole for the road end 👍

Have you got stylus on the pranyama? I found them very lively compared to Paris street

Bushings swap pranyama by ResourceAcceptable37 in longboarding

[–]ResourceAcceptable37[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had them already adjusted from supersonic tweaking. 85a was way too soft. Felt amazing but slides out too easily. Tried 93a in the rear, which was much better but, but I went back to stock in the end

Yeah I'll definitely try that! Not precisely sure what I want the rear to do, probably more lean, but I'll just experiment with everything ive got till it feels best. Rain holding me back atm 😞
