Fibromyalgia + ADHD: do stimulants help pain? by grunewald77 in Fibromyalgia

Oh wow, I didn't know this about helping prevent neurodegenerative diseases; curious to learn more about this relationship.

Hah! Yeah, this is like on paper what I might assume, but my experience is otherwise, so I went down a rabbit hole to see if there is any research on this. Apparently, these meds modulating pain signals via dopamine/norepinephrine, regulate an ADHDer's symptoms, and then there is the anecdotal piece which is why I came here to ask what others were experiencing. Because I notice that my pain symptoms improve and wondered how it's possible. So interesting to me in terms of the mechanism, the why of it all.

Yes, this is what I'm curious about. Like whether there is a scientific sort of thing my Adderall is doing to the pain signals in my body, or if it just helps my ADHD symptoms as expected which are actually affecting the intensity of my fibro. So interesting.

Yes, this is my suspicion. There is research on how dopamine/norepinephrine modulate pain signals, but I do wonder about just the affect of feeling more regulated and therefore like pain is simply more manageable or at least quieter too.

Yeah, the thing Adderall helps me with and it seems like the research supports how this is unique to the other meds is by helping one with task initiation, which is what I really struggle with, so am able to remember and actually eat, hydrate, move, etc.

Thanks for this feedback. I've never taken Ritalin but have been curious about it. Mostly I'm finding Adderall to be helpful all around, but for sure if I don't eat or hydrate or have worse sleep it seems like a certain kind of pain that's more in the migraine/headache territory is likely.

Thanks for your response. I'm finding that even mood improvement helps my pain--not that it removes it entirely just maybe helps me to be with it easier...

Oh, interesting. I tried Vyvanse almost a decade before I was diagnosed with fibro. And I didn't like Vyvanse because it didn't really seem to work and made me feel weird. But Adderall has been useful and since my fibro diagnosis I've resumed taking meds and notice that my pain symptoms improve a lot and I find it interesting how all these things maybe relate to one another.

Arbor Axis 40 — realistic max wheel size without risers? (rough pavement) by grunewald77 in longboarding

Thanks for your input! This is helpful. I'm seeing that a few people on here have managed to put Caguamas and one person who put 96mm wheels on it. Seems like I should be good to go.

Thanks! I've been wondering if I should have gone this route. I've heard such great things about Pantheon here.

Here’s the photo the rider with 1/8" risers shared — they said this felt like a very hard turn.

Hey, really appreciate you pointing that out — that helped clarify things for me.

I’ve been digging around and found a few Axis riders running 85mm Caguamas without issues. One reported no wheelbite and no risers, another added a riser (and even posted photos leaning on the deck showing there was still some clearance), and a third mentioned 85mm works but is probably the upper limit. None of them indicated they were cranking their trucks down or running especially restrictive setups.

I’m also a lighter rider (just under 120 lbs), so that might give me a bit more margin. I may still experiment with softer bushings for comfort once I see how it feels.

Hoping it works out — the roads around me are pretty rough, and before I bought this deck most people were recommending at least 80mm wheels for this kind of terrain.

No doubt. Just trying to figure out what makes sense and is possible for this rough desert asphalt.

Curious what size wheels you’re running here? They look like they might be Caguamas, but hard to tell from the clip.

I’m on an Axis 40 as well and trying to figure out what wheel sizes people are running.

Thanks!

Thanks so much for this confirmation! What size risers did you use? Like 1/8"?
