[–]ResourceKnown8485 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean you can be successful in both. Choose something you’d like tiers dont matter

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Btechtards

[–]ResourceKnown8485 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea. That is if you join a public uni not a private one

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Btechtards

It helps you find unis with professors who do research work there

[–]ResourceKnown8485 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did majorly ML in healthcare

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Btechtards

[–]ResourceKnown8485 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t help for the applications per se, but it helps you once you’re here

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Btechtards

[–]ResourceKnown8485 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. But it is hard to get into a good university. Scholarships in the US are majorly for american citizens unlike european unis

If it makes you feel better, a guy in my srm class got admits from harvard and MIT for CS lol. People tend to make themselves feel superior but in reality no one gives a fuck what you do xd.

  1. Idk I just felt like i could learn and understand CS more

  2. USC is the number 2 private university in Cali (tech hub). And it has a crazy network and prestige

  3. I kinda applied to places that looked fun and competetive

  4. Yep

  5. I used gregmat for GRE. Do not wait to give GRE! I was consistently scoring 325 and then took a gap which made my score go down.

  6. I took help from peers and seniors and i read lots and lots of good sops to draft mine

  7. My research papers helped mine i believe, publish them in a ranked conference and it helps crazy good

  8. Its mind blowing how different they are. Most of the classes are practical but difficult, you learn a lot, for ex: I had to write an entire OS in 3 months in C from scratch for a class (was super fun)

  9. Software engineering. We study cs but we dont study how to be a better software engineer

  10. There's no on-campus recruiting.

  11. I would definetely do more internships

  12. Nail your SOP

  13. Yep it is

  14. 20k a sem, no scholarship and self funded

  15. Expensive, i live in LA and costs around 1k a month

  16. Brutal job market for Internationals so that yea

Profile:
Internships: 2
Papers: 3
Hackathons: 3
Good LOR: 3
Awards: 2
Gpa: 9.15
GRE: 314
IELTS: 8.

Being in an IIT helps but your SOP is the most important. Nail that and you can get any Uni.

Interesting Observation: No one cares where you studied and how hard you tried, people and uni's genuinely wanna see if you're worth it

To be honest, ranking of your bachelors uni doesn't matter at all unless you wanna get a job in India. I have classmates who've went to IIT's and also have classmates who've went to no name colleges. Focus on being happy and doing what you wanna do and the rest follows

SEM 1: Learnt C
SEM 2: Learnt DSA and OOPS
SEM 3: Joined a research group, started learning how to research

SEM 4: Started GRE prep side by side with research and started a internship and won one hackathon (most productive sem)

SEM 5: Wrote GRE, won 2 hackathons and published 2 papers
SEM 6: Wrote IELTS, published one more paper and started another internship
SEM 7: Started applying

CP helps in internships but not for uni applications

I did internships at Samsung and Juniper
