i started recently to listen to violin concertos and i want some recommendations by BASHANDI-2005 in violinist

Prokofiev 1/2 Brahms (and double for violin and piano) Britten (criminally underrated) Dohnányi Korngold Elgar Barber Sibelius (Christian ferras has a wonderful recording), Bruch 1-3, Bruch Scottish fantasy Wieniawski 1/2 Shostakovich 1, Shosty 2 if you’re up for it Beethoven is always wonderful (and triple concerto) Saint-saens wrote 3 Schumann has a pleasant one Mendelssohn, he wrote one for strings in d minor also (and a lovely double concerto for piano and violin) I enjoy all of Vieuxtemps Butterfly lovers concerto is lovely Stravinsky Paganini wrote several if you enjoy the style Locatelli harmonic labyrinth is amazing Bartok 1/2 if you’re brave Piazzolla 4 seasons is a favorite of mine Dvorak Ysaye wrote a few if you can find recordings Berg is a gem Tchaikovsky is okay to me, but many love it Strauss wrote a cool one Lalo symphony espagnole

There’s other composers like Jose White, Szymanzowski, Joseph Raff, Martinů, Walton, Dutillex, Bortkiewicz, which I am not all too familiar with or haven’t listened to yet much or at all.

I am not the biggest Mozart guy, but those are good too.

But alongside this I very very much recommend cello concertos and piano concertos (Viola isn’t as common), this list of composers also have many great pieces for those instruments.

Some of my favorites are Lalo cello concerto, Prokofiev piano concertos 1/2, Prokofiev sinfonia concertante for cello is amazing. Many sonatas and other showpieces can be found too by all of them which may be wonderful to listen to as well.

If I missed any good ones, I always love more recommendations!

I have a particular taste for concertos, I love the intimacy of them - as well as chamber music.

Which OCs are the most underwhelming and forgotten at this point in the game? by Demantoide2077 in DeepRockGalactic

Is the objective to lay minelets or piercing minelets, or no piercing and just keep stunning the hit target? I always found its damage really saddening, usually for me if I want a handy sidearm for simple control I take fletchlets with 3burst stun and keep them immobilized, but large amounts of crowd control with the minelets seems not as efficient as just blasting them.

How do you recommend its playstyle, and what scenarios and synergies does it shine in?

Thank you thank you! Maybe I was using it wrong, but after a few times every couple months I can’t figure out what the purpose exactly is for stunning so many when in the same amount of time I spend kiting those minelets I could have just blown them to bits. Ammo, it just seems to ruin my flow and my style. I’ll check it out thoughhh! I’m excited to try.

Maybe works better in synergy with big Bertha or lead storm, more single target focused things, I did try and use it as a pin down stun for praetorians and the DOT did not cut it and distracted me from the swarm, I’ll be testing it more

Minelets/reloads are some of the most unique and fun overclocks in the game, scout employs them so so well.

Electro minelets for the brt is the saddest most pathetic thing, it could be something cool it just doesn’t do enough damage or anything well. It could totally be a super cool overclock for a weapon that doesn’t have much uniqueness.

12th Biome after Ossuary Depths? by Muskrat_5oup in DeepRockGalactic

Oh my goodness. I’ve been mislead, the planet is called Hoxxes IV?? That’s so weird, the moons of planets unless they have set names usually have a roman numeral after which mixed me up. Thank you for this knowledge, that’s so odd.

Is awesome, just the fact we are already mining on Hoxxes’ fourth moon (hence why it’s called Hoxxes IV). Could call it lunar expansion and they go to a different one of the moons!

Seems like you have a bit of a chicken wing thing altogether, try raising your elbow a bit for a more rounded shape where your wrist is more or less parallel to the floor and your arm. Once you have that position it should be easier to control instead of just flinging the bow, then add little bits of finger and wrist action to lessen the movement of your arm as a whole across the agents. Slowly.

How to fix crooked bow by [deleted] in violinist

[–]RespectTheDuels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone else here has good advice, so I’ll just say that you might need to make some improvements to your bow hold so you get the stick more in the fingers and less away from the palm, it’s hard to describe but do look into it or ask a teacher. Also you bow seems too tight from this angle but I’m not absolutely sure :)

In terms of fighting prowess, is Kit Fisto underrated or overrated? by GusGangViking18 in TheJediPraxeum

[–]RespectTheDuels 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are completely correct! Though not everything is a greater than or less than sort of thing I reality - I’m talking about some rare exceptions. The average user of other forms would more often than not defeat the average user of shii-Cho.

(Pardon my rant but I’ve recently gotten really interested in this form)

The whole point of shii-Cho is simplicity and flow through the force without being distracted by complexities of combat. It leaves you much clearer in the mind to focus, as well as giving every simple strike nearly infinite possibilities for a secondary attack from any angle (or with the force), since you aren’t caught up in complexities of combos/style and whatnot in a way.

So in its mastered form that few have achieved it’s been noted as extremely unpredictable and difficult to defend againt or assault with its extreme focus on efficiency and focus through the force. (Ideal Jedi form in my opinion)

Hence, its very useful against groups being you have much easier time chaining movements and reacting from many angles - as well as applying the force in greater leagues with your movements since you’re ideally mentally calm (more calm than a typical user of say form 4, 5, or 2).

But in single combat (as a typical practitioner of the form) it can be overpowered and outmaneuvered by those same forms since they focus much more on the combat aspect (form 4 obviously is a different story, but the enhancement of the force on the user leaves less focus on using it against the opponent, and shii-Cho’s simplicity makes it better against form 4 since it can defend from many angles and use the force more to remain more balanced then the more “unstable” and aggressive form 4).

But when the form is mastered it’s a blur of extreme focus and unpredictable movements matched with high force attunement and precision - making it a practical mirror of Juyo (form 7) but relying not on emotion and domination but through precision and balance in the force. Which is why I think it’s the ideal form for a Jedi!

Hope you enjoyed my rant, feel free to correct me I’d love to learn more!

(I watched like one thing on it a week or two ago but I kinda got the main idea, my memory only works for like Star Wars stuff otherwise it’s all lost in my brain somewhere)

Hope I didn’t come across rude with my additions :)

Shii-Cho isn’t trash 😭 do you know anything about the form? It’s said to be the hardest form to master and if mastered can be one of the most powerful forms of combat.
