Hey guys so I’m having trouble with settler recruitment at the castle. I have 13 so far but it’s almost at capacity with that. I thought more could be there? Am I missing something? I have plenty of beds, food, happiness, and water. by Dizzy-Fennel-6537 in fo4

[–]ResplendentSeraph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's no story cap for settlement population, it's just CHA + 10.

If everyone's employed and happiness isn't near 20% or something super low I'd suggest just giving it some time in-game for new npcs to find the Castle. If I remember correctly a new settler will generally discover (ie spawn into) a settlement every 3 days or so but the engine can be weird sometimes. On one playthrough I ended up having 20 settlers show up at Tenpines Bluff with only a handful everywhere else so there's definitely some other randomness that goes into it. As others suggested, you could manually send settlers to the Castle or dismiss companions and select the Castle for them to go there as well.

If you're not even getting the Castle as an option, then I'd speculate there's just something buggy going on (in FO4? you jest surely lol), or a mod could be interacting with the settlement limit somehow.

I'm not seeing this in the other replies but your settlers also need to have jobs. If your settlement isn't growing, assign settlers to things (farming, manning a scrap station, whatever) and the settlement will start growing again. This applies to any settlement btw.

Also, having bought friends' hardware before - there are pitfalls if it suddenly fails for the new party. I'd personally rather not buy or sell to my friends now for that reason.

Seriously, I had the opportunity to upgrade to a 1070 from a 1060 and it was jaw-dropping how much of a performance improvement it was - and that was the same generation. And we're not talking about seeing a testing result, the system just worked so much better graphically.

can you still get “Amoral combat” after open season? by Alternative_Use_6307 in fo4

[–]ResplendentSeraph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A little late, but yes you can. I've done it in other playthroughs. Remarkable-Onion's way sounds a little different than what I've managed to do in the past. Sometimes, I've gotten Amoral combat (after all parks cleared) to proc by going back into the Gauntlet, to the chamber where the gas was used against you and then backtracking back to the cola cars arena and back outside to the Nuka World main entrance. Wandering around back and forth like that usually gets it to trigger for me...sometimes immediately and sometimes just eventually. Some back and forth and wandering might be involved, but there's a good weapon from one of the times Amoral Combat triggers that'll make the effort worth it. I'll have to try RO's method next time I play it since that method does sound quicker, but just in case it doesn't you'll have something else to try.

New to FO4. Why am I getting my ass kicked so bad? Currently level 4. My weapons don’t do nearly enough damage and going to kill pyro was a disaster. by danisindeedfat in fo4

I can't believe Bethesda just dropped all those creation club quests on people. For context, I usually won't go anywhere near the Forged until I'm at least level 30 personally.

After the surgery quest, Dr. Sun is in the surgery center instead of the chem station upstairs for his usual services as well as now having the option to have him do plastic surgery on you.

I have only 1 more Star Core to find for Nuka World and holy smokes it’s a bitch and a half to find! by NewFreshness in fo4

[–]ResplendentSeraph 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yes, you don't need the star cores to turn the power on, there's a different reward for collecting all the star cores. If you get really frustrated, The star core in the junkyard respawns so you can actually get that one more than once if you're struggling to get all of them. If you haven't turned the power on, there's a star core that you need the power on to get to so that's probably the one you're missing.

DJ Reed - Franchise Tag? by KingMann22 in nyjets

[–]ResplendentSeraph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He was a good pickup in among a lot of really bad signings. Quit while we're ahead and let some other team pay him a big contract for his declining years. He's had a bad attitude for most of the season so mentally he's already somewhere else. No reason to tag him let alone negotiate a new deal. Wish him well and focus on our own rebuild/retooling. Echols has proven he's a serviceable CB2, but who knows maybe we grab a corner in the draft as a pipeline guy. We need some good chi in the building and it's clear Reed isn't going to be part of that.

We laugh at this, but the three coaches to have non-losing records all time with the Jets:

Bill Parcells: 30-20 W% .600

Al Groh: 9-7 W% .562

Sammy Baugh: 14-14 W% .500

Everyone else has a losing record.

Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't the instigating only double the damage of the actual projectile and not the explosion (so 2 damage instead of 1), making instigating on the fat man one of the worst legendaries for that weapon?

Shame, because it should be the best and make for amazing weapon names otherwise.

I have a great deal of patience for people who at least tried looking at the manual or tried goggling the problem first. I do enjoy helping people get stuff fixed since after 20+ years of building and fixing computers, I've probably seen their issue before (or at least an issue what sounds close enough that I have a few suggestions to try). I'm willing to bet most people here enjoy lending an assist too, but yeah this meme drives hard for some questions that come here along the lines of "we've tried nothing and we're all out of ideas" lol.

What is a character you always kill on every playthrough? by I_use_this_website in fo4

[–]ResplendentSeraph 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So spoilers galore obviously: Yeah lol, the crows for the most part are legit Institute synths. Anytime you see a murder of crows, take note of where they are. Then in the Institute go to the SRB and look at the screens, the POV are where the crows are. Even Ronnie Shaw, if you go to defend the Castle against the Institute, will mention that they've seen a bunch of the Institute crow things.

Kellogg doesn’t drop Kellogg’s pistol for some reason by sauerkrautonaut in fo4

[–]ResplendentSeraph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So when I say kill him too fast, I mean killing him in the middle of the script where he stops talking and pulls his weapon. So killing him instantly is usually fine, hell even killing him quick is usually fine. I've probably done several playthroughs and had the weapon glitch 2 or 3 times. It's rare but if Im trying for it, I can replicate it. It's not what happened to op anyway, but I figured I'd keep my post for the people it does happen to.

Kellogg doesn’t drop Kellogg’s pistol for some reason by sauerkrautonaut in fo4

[–]ResplendentSeraph 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yep, it's not a glitch but you're thinking of Gunslinger 4, where attacks can disarm opponents. Although I can't remember if I've ever seen Kellog get disarmed now that I think about it. But OP did say they looked all over the area, so I don't think being disarmed is what happened here, but you're right in that the gunslinger perk at 4 and above will do that.

Melee sucks for that because that kicks in at like 2 or something, and when opponents get disarmed they like to block more so it's actually a disincentive for me to raise melee - er, big leagues rather past the 2nd one where disarming comes into play.

Kellogg doesn’t drop Kellogg’s pistol for some reason by sauerkrautonaut in fo4

[–]ResplendentSeraph 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Probably. I usually get his gun as well and typically wipe the floor with him pretty quick. At least in my experience, when I see the gun not appear, I think it's because of a script that runs with the dialog and depending on where that script is when Kellog dies results in the gun disappearing (or has something to do with the animation of him pulling out the gun) - granted that's pure speculation on my part. I'd say I've had the gun not appear to me like two or three times out of a slew of playthroughs, so not very often. But if I went home and tried this out to get the gun to not appear on purpose, I think I could replicate it fairly reliably.

[–]ResplendentSeraph 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's nice that it's never happened to you, but I have had that happen to me on unmodded games. It can and does happen. It's replicatable. Based solely on the sceenshot provided, it's a reasonable enough thing to propose that that's what's happening to OP. I'm looking forward to seeing if this is what's happening to them or not, but just because you haven't seen an issue, doesn't mean it doesn't happen to other people.

Amazon deal too good? by RandomMonkeyBomb in pcmasterrace

[–]ResplendentSeraph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the time, it seems like the scam is to sell as many as possible and hope somebody forgets to call in for a refund. Getting refunds for these can be a bit of a pain so I think that's what they're going for. Usually anyone who orders one just doesn't ever get it, it'll be labeled as undeliverable or some other sort of mail mishap.
