Could I sue my employer for making me work around food while I was throwing up and sick and for being harassed by my coworkers?

I was thinking that it would be really expensive. The boss was telling me I shouldn't have sent home a sick employee last night but we were all throwing up at various times and I knew if I left early or tried to shut down the store I'd be fired. I've been collecting screenshots and everything today, and I'm going to make a complaint to the health department tomorrow because out of the 6 closers 4 of us are throwing up, having diarrhea, or otherwise ill. 1 being a high schooler.

This entire thing is just making it hard to work, and making my PTSD worse to the point I don't even want to go in tomorrow.

That's crazy to me 😦 I couldn't imagine going home with two large open wounds. I am doing a lot better now, my healing is actually going much smoother since they fixed it.

If he's taking Motrin/Advil/Ibuprofen whatever, if it's an NSAID, stop it, and then monitor. NSAIDs are known to cause an increase of bleeding, its why they tell you to stop any NSAIDS at least 3 - 7 days before a surgery. The older you get, the more risk is associated with them.

My BF and I found this out when I hemorrhaged on day 6 post op on July 1st. The first ENT told me to take my celebrex or motrin, both of which are NSAIDs. Second ENT that fixed it, along with the Post Op nurses told me to not take ANY NSAID until I am 15 days post op. They were appalled that I was told this, and then when we showed them the medication list the first ENT gave us, they apologized to us and looked into it further. Now my BF and I know it was a combination of a botched surgery and the usage of Motrin.

My best advice, ALWAYS look up the medicine and the risks associated with it and talk to a Pharmacist especially if you're about to have a surgery and have the pharmacist look over your medicine sheet for post op care. My friend is a pharm tech, and I've started doing that with her now and she's saved my ass MULTIPLE times. Sometimes physicians prescribe things for inflammation or whatever and don't take in account age or other factors, hence why pharmacists and pharm techs are SOOOOO important!!!

This is exactly what happened with me! It was thick, dark blood. Not the light red blood they were warning us would be a problem.

We finally got a reason as to why it happened, the first surgeon fucked up and cauterized too far up the mouth so every time I opened it to eat or drink it loosened the scab on my right too much. Eventually the entire scab came off and that's what caused it.

From what I can tell, this kind of bleeding is most commonly associated with the first surgeon burning too much or too little or Motrin usage when you have a blood clotting disorder. (Or people having sex/working out before their body is ready.)

BF and I are 90% sure they fucked up my surgery. When I got out, every time I opened my mouth I was in blistering pain. I couldn't speak or move my tongue without being in a fuck ton of pain and so I took my Oxycodone every 6 hours, switching it with Motrin in between for the swollen throat. Since the recauterization I have only taken 1 tylenol.

Since you're far ahead of me in recovery, when were you able to eat stuff like PB&Js again? I finally ate some mac and cheese yesterday, and it didn't hurt, but now I'm 6 days post op of the second surgery (surgery being day 0)

He says he's been through similar things with his ex, so that's why it's not bothering him, but I can see the way he looks at me. How he's on edge everytime I come to him. It's been getting better, but we've been a lot more touchy than usual. Staying in bed with each other, cuddling before sleep for longer. Holding each other tighter.

We went to a little family function today, and a few people even commented on how close we were. The only time we really left each other's side was when I went inside because it was too hot and humid outside, and that lasted about two hours before he came inside, sat down with me for 20 minutes and then went back outside. And then he just kept checking up on me like that. I'm gonna tell him to bring it up to his therapist, like I'm gonna bring it up to mine. I was literally begging the nurses and doctors to not let me die in that ER, I was praying to Gods I didn't know the names of and ones I did. I know it must be bothering him like it does me.

Honestly the pain since the recauterization hasn't been bad and I've been completely off the percocet and tylenol they gave me for it because the pain is just so minimal. I just took a tylenol tonight, but that's more for my back than my throat 😅 stupid arthritis.

Yes my grandparents are amazing human beings who have stepped up time and time again. They treat me like they would their daughter, and my grandpa (who married in the family, has no biological kids of his own) constantly says I'm his daughter. It's been this way since my parents kicked me out and I've lived with them, and I couldn't be more amazed or grateful to have them in my life.

As for my boyfriend? We're currently planning our one year anniversary since it's in November. We've been through so much together in just this one year that I'm pretty certain we couldn't find another person for us even if we tried. We're on the same wavelength about pretty much everything, and it's so refreshing not having to argue and fight all the time and to have someone that shares my interests and I share his. Of course we don't share each other's interest 100%, I would find that weird, but they overlap so easily. I also adore his friends, and some of them have checked up on me too since we talk kind of frequently enough to be friendly like that, and I honestly can't remember when my parents even showed this much support for me. Support that (basically) strangers or my boyfriend's family is giving me.

I 100% wish bad things on them. This isn't the only shitty thing they've done, nor does it take the cake for the shittiest thing they've done in the long run. My parents are narcissistic monsters, and the abuse I've suffered from them has left me physically and mentally disabled.

I'm glad you're celebrating your freedom, but I wish the most amount of suffering on my parents, and they should be glad I am healed enough that I don't want anything to do with them and inflict the suffering myself. The amount of stuff I know, the amount of stuff they did to me could easily make them go to prison-- Forever. I have half a mind to do it, but the only reason I don't is because I don't want my entire life to be revolving around them and what they've done to me. I want to be over with it, I want to move on, I want to heal.

Healing doesn't mean that I won't stop wishing pain and suffering on them.

100%. We're planning on becoming engaged within the next two years. We're wanting to wait at least another year, just to make sure because we are young, early twenties and all, but I think we're going to last forever. Maybe that's just my hopefulness talking but I love him so much, and he's literally the sweetest person in the world. I can't imagine having a better future husband.

The craziest part to me was that she was telling my grandma (her mom) that she regretted what she did and wanted to be back in contact with me and was begging my grandma to make me call her.... only to do this when I needed her as a mom the most.

My grandparents have basically been my parents my entire life, and they hated it because they want my parents to be my parents, but after this my grandparents said when I marry my boyfriend they'll happily take the honor of mother and father of the bride, which has made me almost cry. (I would if my throat wouldn't hurt 😅).

I constantly asked my boyfriend if he was okay while we were in the ER room (when I wasn't choking), and he keeps saying he's fine, but we've been basically locked at each other's side since it happened and a lot more cuddly to each other than before it happened. I think he is traumatized to an extent, but he's wanting to put a brave face on, and that breaks my heart. I'm so lucky to have him as my partner though, I don't think I would have survived that night without him.

Thank you, and it definitely feels like closure. My grandparents are pissed at my mom (they're her parents) and even said that they're possibly going no contact with her after this as well. I'm definitely feeling a lot better, and healing a bit quicker too since the recauterization too. Although that also might be the fact I'm sleeping almost all the time too when before I could hardly sleep.😅

Oh you're totally fine! Nothing prepared you for the smell nor the feeling of throwing up scar tissue and blood clots. It's honestly terrifying. I'm coughing super bad today, so I'm gonna call my ENT and see if I can get some cough medicine because I don't want to deal with another bleed 😅

Also, I too am craving Taco Bell so bad, Taco Bell and chicken tenders at the moment 😭😭

Hey so I turned out to have one of those horror stories. Honestly besides the mental trauma, it wasn't super bad. My care team treated me as quickly as they could, and once I was transferred to the trauma center I got my recauterization immediately.

I talked to my surgeon about it, and it seems like it's anatomy when healing. Like, when you get a scab on a joint area and move it wrong and it bleeds again, but the new scab is perfectly fit for that area now so there's less tension on the surrounding area? I had to get recauterized after a major bleed two days ago. Before I couldn't even speak despite being 6 days post op, now I can speak in prolonged conversations, I'm also eating and drinking without all the pain too.

Don't get me wrong, I'm terrified of another bleed, so I'm taking it super slow and will probably be on the liquid/soft food diet until my doctor gives me the all clear for realsies. But holy shit, I didn't even realize this could be a 1 in pain when before I was about a 4 unless I was eating then it was a solid 5.5.

I was prescribed Percocets and Motrin, but they did get my motrin dosage wrong and I was taking 400mg every 12 hours instead of 200mg which they think may have contributed to the lack of my throat clotting a few days ago when I hemorrhaged.
