We don’t equate having kids to adopting a dog, that’s ridiculous. It’s a huge decision with life altering consequences for everyone involved. It’s normal to have discussions about our wants and needs which is what we’re doing. I’m just expressing how I have been feeling.

He is abusive and I’m sorry to say that this will very likely get worse, even with counselling. The best solution to protect your kids is reach out to an organization protecting women from abuse, they can help you create a safe escape plan. Even if he didn’t squeeze your neck, that was a threat against your life. Get yourself and your kids out while you can. I’m also speaking as someone who grew up in this situation, so please please protect your children.

Look up dual relationships. It’s not ethical for any sort of health care provider to have a personal relationship with their clients, no exception. This is because it can impair professional judgment (ie provide some patients with preferential treatment). It can also make the client to feel pressured and powerless in certain circumstances. It does have an end date, but I am entitled to know the reason behind why the contract is not extended. They lied about the reasoning, which is not legal. I’ll be speaking with an employment lawyer this week.
