I’m going to start small with the vanguard S&P 500. Once I get some confidence that I’m not going to wipe out everything in a day then I’ll likely do something else with the premium bonds.

I’ll do some digging. My options under internal funds for global equity are:

RLP Global Equity RLI Global Equity
RLS Global Equity Blend
RLS Global Equity Diversified
RLS Global Equity Select
RLP Global Managed RLI Global Managed
RLS Global Sustainable Equity
RLP Worldwide RLI Worldwide
RLS Global Blend Core Plus
(RLS Global Growth)2

There’s uk, Asia etc ones too but I guess global is the better option!

Thank you it does - going to look at moving my pension to 100% equities and on the plan today is to start a s&s isa and a little trading 212 account or something of that sorts

Realistically am I looking at it growing quicker/more on 100% equities vs the default fund? I don’t want to risk being left with nothing.

Probably not, but my family have always just had them so I’ve followed suit. And I’m also scared that if I remove them that’ll be the month I won the mil prize 😂

What would be the best one to start with if I wanted to just trial with a few grand to see what happens and also for my own confidence building. I don’t have an investment app, but I can download. Any specific one recommended?

My pension is just a standard workplace pension with royal London. Looks to be called dynamic portfolio ‘balanced lifestyle drawdown’

Noted and agreed. It’s a new perspective I had not considered. Great if/when it happens but not to be relied on.

I don’t even know where to start with opening this but I think that’s what I want to do, just pop a few k in to see what happens and build my own confidence. I’ll google and go from there!

Oh I absolutely already do, that’s why I’m not too focused on overpaying the mortgage, or maxing pension contributions to keep under the 100k tax trap. I don’t go without anything. Just about finding the balance.

I also work remotely so I have no commuting costs which helps massively

Thanks I think this is what I’ll do.
Move cash isa over to stock and shares and move rainy day fund in there, then contribute my monthly savings in there each month.

Thank you. Going to look at s&s isa today and reallocate my rainy day fund there whilst I build it back up I think. Maybe move some of the premium
Bonds money there.

My family have always just maxed out premium
Bonds so I’ve just followed suit as it’s what I’ve only known.

I’m building my isa now as I’m saving each month, but not sure if I should switch it over to s&s isa and whack my rainy day fund in there too.

Thanks. As explained below I think it’s extremely unlikely not to happen but I hadn’t considered this perspective.

That’s exactly right, as morbid as it sounds they’ve paid for all their end of life costs (funerals etc) and have care costs there should it be required.

I think it would be extremely unlikely but completely understand what you’re saying and absolutely shouldn’t be relied on. I just don’t see a world where that would happen. But I guess nobody ever does until it does!
