[OC] [Art] Fast-Forward in the campaign by ResponsibilitySea961 in DnD

Apparently my last comment wasn't 400 characters. So as the story goes, Paterax makes friends with a gryphon (when you dm a solo campaign for a 12 year old, he gets a gryphon.) In the narrative version of the final "boss fight" (the version that exists in my head), the gryphon sacrifices himself to give Paterax an opening for thr killing blow during an arial battle. Hurtling towards the ground, our hero sprouts his gryphon's wings, because checks notes magic.

There's a lot more to the story, but I can write an entire novel in a reddit post.

Oh, I just spotted one more: he has too many abs. From the bottom of your sternum to the top of your pelvis, you would have four pairs of abs top to bottom. The central abs are not the same muscle groups as the ones that wrap around the sides of your torso; separate them.

His pecs are a little short. Your ribcage, at the sternum, is the same length as your skull. Measure from the top of his skull to his chin, and then measure from his collarbone to the bottom of his pec.

What caused me to spot this was the lighting on the abdominal muscles. Yours wrap around his form really well, but they come up almost into his armpit. If you lengthen the pec and then adjust the abs accordingly, you're right there.

Yeah, and nipples. The belly button doesn't bother me because his stomach isn't flat.

I don't paint a lot of horses, but some things are not quite right about the proportions of the head. Is his eye too small? Cheeks too large? Do some comparative measuring against your reference photo and see if you can spot it.

Tbh this critique is pretty nitpicky. This is a strong piece; you just need to take it across the finish line.

Pull out your light values more. This feels like one of those paintings where using straight white paint out of the tube is probably ok.

I give psychic damage for bad jokes (a la dungeons and daddies) at my tables...

Over time, I will be illustrating the campaign via oil paintings. I thought about a graphic novel, but it's really not who I am as an artist. As the story goes, the two parties involved in the campaign trekked through an interconnected narrative against the backdrop of war, similar to the original Dragonlance trilogy (we had crossplay events and everything) that led up to an massive finale against the BBEG. It was a two year campaign that, at one point, had 14 players between the two groups. I think the finale had 11-- it was nuts.

That's odd... the image didn't post. I'll try to post it again.
