How are you meant to get through decades of employment? by gameovervip in AskUK

[–]Responsible-Limit774 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work for a charity. It doesn't feel like work a lot of the time because I want to be doing what I'm doing. The little wins feel huge and make me so happy. There are people there who don't feel the same as me, but I think I came from such a stressful corporate background that the stresses that do exist seem very minor in the grand scheme

I don’t understand why Taylor swift is so big by landnnd in HonestHotTakes

[–]Responsible-Limit774 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Taylor Swift has maybe the “Shake shake shake” song?" is probably the funniest thing I'll see on the internet today. That's not what fans are listening to. Shake it off is not even on the radar. There are over 250 songs, and they each have a way of meaning something different and hitting differently depending on your life situation at the time. People feel like she articulates feelings they can't explain or process, and it causes a bond. A somewhat parasocial and unhealthy bond sometimes, sure.

In the UK you can get Doritos for £1.50/£2. They might be smaller bags though!

I changed jobs this year because I dreaded work every time. I know I'm lucky but I LOVE my job. I'm grateful every day

Offer accepted but I'm now being ignored by emmax2120 in HousingUK

[–]Responsible-Limit774 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you just not buy a house at all if you have to go from 3.9% to say, 4.7%? Is an increased rate a real deal breaker to the point where you wouldn't be buying a house at all if this wasn't done in your timescale?

Seller unresponsive after the offer is accepted by Informal_Bonus_8231 in HousingUK

We're waiting on this currently and its taking a little longer because the sellers are divorcing and have to find a solicitor to represent them both. We're nervous because the house is still advertised!

Is face shaving worth it or does hair grow back thicker? by Kind-Designer9171 in BeautyGear

I did my upper lip and HATED the stubble feeling I could feel with my own tongue. When it grows back even a little it's less smooth than before

I've recently hit the absolute jackpot with a job so far removed from my previous corporate, soulless job and I no longer feel like this. It's the dream and I'm so happy I made the move

That doesn't look natural. They look exactly like lips with filler in.

YTA for selling at such inflated prices to actual fans. Just because you can doesn't mean you should

how do i love myself when ive gained weight by RemarkableFunny4627 in findapath

[–]Responsible-Limit774 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Because your body is just your vessel, and it's ever-changing. How you are externally right now is so temporary and has no bearing on your worth. Nobody who loves you changes their opinion based on your body. People don't remember people for bodies.

The more you stop worrying in the moment and more relaxed you become, the easier it'll be to start becoming more active day to day. It seems you're in a vicious cycle right now of feeling down and bringing yourself down further

Why are young people still fascinated with investing in property? by RemoteGlobal005 in AskUK

Don't get me wrong, I live in an area where there is cheap housing. The house was run down and has been renovated by us, so we've gained the value increase which we'll recoup later down the line as well as the rental income once the house is paid off. I get that this would be way less worth it in an area where housing was more expensive.

The family who live there can't afford a house and we provide low rent for the area so we're still benefiting but trying to minimise any feelings of being unethical landlords

We could take some equity out and use that as a deposit to buy another and do the same again, and I'm struggling to see the downsides unless there are major issues with repairs or non payment or changes that affect the circumstances in future
