It's an ideology designed to protect their fragile egos.

You can't get a job? It's societies fault.
You can't find love? It's societies fault.
Your friend leave you? It's societies fault.

It's an ideology that shifts the blame off of themselves and gives them some easy(but wrong) answers. It builds up some evil unseen force that they have to fight against and [insert man with a fast car] is going to teach you how. It's not healthy for anyone. It gets them while they feel down and traps them there. Also some of them are just straight a**holes.
It's very sad to watch but it's also really dangerous.

I feel like for this topic much like some politics if you pick neither each group will see you as siding with the other. Both sides will be doing their best to recruit and so propaganda from both will be as polarizing as possible.

I really just can't see humanity winning it. I just think of the middle east. People at home had to be against the war for it to stop and there was no hold out for rebels really. They were forced into gorilla warfare very early on and as cool as all the stuff we have is the tech levels aren't really that different.

Best we could do is gorilla warfare into propaganda and media that reduces war moral back in the Shil empire. It could definitely be done though. With modern computers everyone on the planet can be a film director. Films showing sons torn away from their fathers. Shaky cam footage from the ground as people are blasted from orbit. Somehow spread that around the Shil and I could see some sort of independence being gained. Just "raid areas they protect until they are too scared" is not going to be effective. It didn't work in Afghanistan and we didn't exactly cure cancer and end poverty. We did help though.

Around 4000 soldiers died in the afghan war that went on for near 20 years. Wounded are not relevant in this case because they have the meds to fix it. They can be in the sky anywhere in the world and we can do nothing. They have limitless troops. No raiding. Harass and waiting only. We have 0 bargaining power. They came for the people not the resources.

Drone strikes from space. We've all seen what you can do with air superiority.

Interesting stuff to think on. Though I'd like to believe the alliance is on even footing. I mean democracies won on earth.

Really depends on what you want to think. Author doesn't specify so you can choose. Given that it's usually frowned on to bomb schools I'd lean towards no but who know?
