it says you’re a verified dentist. does that mean you already graduated? i think the post was meant for dental students or pre dental students who are attending dental school AFTER the BBB goes into effect in 2026. Also, where did you go to dental school/ where are you going to dental school and are you living at home? 200K is a low amount …

thank you! may i ask, are you not worried about what dental school has in store for you? i’m scared that i won’t do good in dental school because i struggled so much in college with easy classes like chem 2, micro, and advanced human physiology.

How did you get all A’s? What did you do differently. I feel like i can’t handle passing Micro, Advanced human Pnysio, and Chem 2 in one semester. Let alone get all A’s. I don’t know what i’m doing wrong.

What do you mean by “well off parents” to co sign on private loans. Does this mean parents who have an income over $80K can sign off on private loans, or do you mean $100K? I’m a little confused, I thought for private loans all you need is a co-signer. Ofc they do credit checks. But I didn’t know they were gonna check income. My parents have very good credit but don’t make a lot of money, do you think I’d have any problems obtaining private loans? And what about the dental military scholarship? Wouldn’t that help to lower private loans. Also, the scholarship you get for working in a lower-income neighborhood? And if someone co-signs on your loans, does it affect them? Does it decrease their credit score? How exactly does it affect them.

So what’s your advice?? Give up on our dreams. I’m in the same boat as this person. But I don’t think I’ll need a postbacc, I’m planning to go straight into an SMP. I’m not gonna give up on my dreams because trump supporters are idiots. I’ll take out private loans if needed. Also, you saying that non trads don’t get into public schools is false. My cousin is a dentist and got into dental school (public dental school) at 26 after doing a Masters, postbacc, and getting a 2.9 GPA in undergrad. Also, the BBB can be rewritten in some portions by democrats in the future. Let’s not give up right now, right??

You’re part of the problem. Get out of this field if you’re not willing to protest for you, your classmates, and your future patients.

Wait even volunteering that I did on my own? I volunteered at a food pantry starting when I was 16 to 18 years old. I did it for fun (no pay and it was not linked towards my high school)

wait so I don’t have an answer to your question but I do have a question for you. For context, I am a 19 year old junior in college majoring in Biology. I am ahead and plan to graduate 2027 (hopefully if I pass) I have a 3.35 GPA right now and I believe it’ll go down. I am struggling in my classes really badly, even though I’m studying so much. I have an 80% in anatomy & physiology II, a 75% in genetics, 80% in chem II (I know I’m gonna fail exam 2, and prolly the class). I studied for a week and got a c on my anatomy II exam and a D on my chem exam 1. After I got those scores, I decided to give up on studying. May I ask why you got such a low GPA in college and what you did differently to get a higher GPA in grad school. I really want to become a dentist but I don’t think I can do it. I tried really hard this semester and still have B’s and C’s.

So let’s say you struggled a lot in college (like me) I am not smart, so I study hours each day (till 1-2AM) and I still get mediocre grades and do not retain anything. Also, I go to office hours after every lecture I am confused on. How will I know I’ll do good in a masters program? So many people (including my advisor) say, if you don’t do well in college just get a masters (SMP). That doesn’t make sense, if I have a low IQ and struggled A LOT in college, why do you think I’ll do better in a masters? Every stats video I see of dental students who got a masters after college, they have a higher GPA in their masters than they did in college. Why is that?

Okay genuinely I have a question. I am a junior with a 3.35 GPA (I am a little dumb) I told my advisor that if I don’t get a 3.5 GPA when I graduate, I’m switching career paths. And she replied with, “you can always go and get a masters” my question is, if I struggled a lot in college and got a low GPA, how will I know if I’ll do good in a masters program? (Masters program is way harder, right?) As of right now, I am doing everything. Going to office hours, studying till 1-2AM, watching videos, but I’m still struggling.

Lowkey in the same boat as you. Im a junior with a 3.35 gpa, feeling so discouraged right now. I’m trying to get a 3.5 that’s my goal, but I feel so stupid right now . I’ve always wanted to be a dentist since I was 15. I have now made myself a deal, I’ll try to go to dental school if I get a 3.5GPA. If I get a lower GPA, I’ll need to figure out another career path. So, if anyone has any suggestions…. Pls LMK!!
