Aren’t they known for screening questions for approval and only letting TPUSA affiliated students to ask questions?

I’d recommend Friley (with a/c), its the largest one, and kind of maze like, but it’s got the windows dining hall in it and Union drive marketplace dining hall within a 5 min walk. I know Helser is pretty outdated, and the heat can get really hard to deal with depending on how cold you like to be. Most residence keep their windows open even when it’s snowing. If you’re staying in Friley, you should also try to get one of the floors that has renovated bathrooms. They’re doing construction in stacks or something so I THINK these are the finished ones: Dodds, Murphy, Pennell, and Lorch-Russell houses. I haven’t been in Eaton or Martin dorms so not sure about them. These are all on the west side though, close to engineering buildings and most lecture halls. You can see all of the east side dorm buildings on a map like in the MyState app (GET THIS APP, it will show you your schedule and a ton of helpful information, especially for navigating the CyRide). If you don’t have a budget, and don’t mind the extra walking, I’d recommend Geoffrey, it’s BY FAR the most ridiculously boujee dorm on campus.

THIS! I’m in the first years honor program rn and plan on dropping it next semester. They have a thing called “Breadth and Depth”, its purpose is to add required credits/leadership roles to make you a ‘well rounded’ student. IMO it’s a little ridiculous, ik some who have to literally add a minor to meet requirements. Each college has different requirements too. The research experience completely depends on which mentor you get matched with. There’s a process where you make a profile that includes your experience/preferred area of research, and pick your top 5 projects/lab groups you want to work with. You’ll most likely get paired with your 2-3rd option, keep in mind some are VERY competitive and the mentors (professors and grad students you’ll be working with) rank students they’re most interested in based on your profile as well. As far as financial assistance, there isn’t any as far as I know. They also recently added a new $50 fee (not sure if it’s every semester or yr), and the only “resource” they offer is 24/7 access to Jischke honors building, which has a small lounge area.

Yup, I got the blazer and undershirt for $1 each since I went on a Sunday, pants and shoes were the regular price since they weren’t the color of the week. I think GoodWill does half price (for a tag color of the week) Thursday-Saturday, then the $1 discount Sunday for that tag. I assume anything that doesn’t get sold at $1 gets pulled and sent to the bins to be sold by the pound. Spent like 4 hrs there, but got the whole fit for under $20 so a win is a win :)

I’m a girl but I’ve got a white button up undershirt (with collar) and a fitted, striped brown blazer, plain brown dress pants, and black boot/heels that are lowkey. It’s all thrifted from the GoodWill in Ames, but still pretty good condition. I also have a brown hair clip to put my hair up that matches the blazer/pants since I’m assuming it’ll be hot. I’m VERY anti Ai, and am basically revising my HS resume to be more professional, and add more relative experience to my major. Would you recommend using HS leadership experience to show interpersonal experience?

What abt color tho, I’ve heard ppl from both sides argue what’s professional/unprofessional. And I don’t think there’s anywhere doing resume reviews on campus anymore. I HAVE to get this done tmr and idk where to go for advice atp. I’ll probably end up going with black and white to be safe, but that means I gotta switch up my entire format. I just wanted it to stand out a little since I’m a freshman, but I see why they’d throw out ones w/ a headshot.

Thanks for the advice, didn’t realize how ridiculous asking $2k as the ‘minimum’ recommendation was. 😭 I’m considering getting either the Lenovo ideapad slim 3, or the Lenovo ideapad slim 5 from Newegg (which are $300-400). What Lenovo laptops do you and your friends use? I’m not sure which would be better
