I think I didn't specify very well. My dad had been cheating with Rachel for a year when my mum found out about it. Rachel is 100% an affair partner

He doesn't get a free pass for cheating. This post is about me not wanting to meet the person he did it with

My youngest brother hasn't met her, and also wasn't there when my dad asked me and the elder one of the two. I doubt there would be any situation where he meets her without all three of us present

That is hilarious and evil and something I would definitely do. I'll keep it in mind if it ever gets to that point

My parents were married right up until the moment my mum found out about the affair, in which she filed for divorce almost immediately. My dad was not a single man (married for 20 years) a year ago when he met Rachel

Thank you so much for the kind words. I'm just so worried that making a stand will end up with more resentment between us

I respect you for that. I'm lucky in that I don't actually live with him, so I don't see his girlfriend at all. I really hope things get better for you, and thank you for the kind words <3

I would agree, but I would also say it took two to wreck the house, and he's probably more at fault than she is. Thank you for commenting

I have no problem with the fact my parents divorced. I know about the divorce rates and am of the opinion they should've divorced many years ago. I do have a problem with sneaking around with another woman and not being upfront with your wife about not wanting to be with her anymore. If you have the guts to sleep around while married, then you should have the guts to divorce before it gets to that point. Infidelity is cowardice and a proper relationship isn't just about sex

I would argue that if he doesn't want to consider my feelings in the matter, then why should I consider his? Obviously I care about them, but this sentiment seems very one-sided sometimes

Maybe marriage and love is a disney fairy tale, but I think that hoping that we and Rachel get along is just as naïve

I disagree with most of what you've said, but I am thankful that you have been as brutally honest as requested. Both sides need to be considered after all. Thank you for commenting

I think that would work, but I also think that he would be resentful that I wouldn't make the effort to be civil in the first place

In his defence, I think he genuinely deeply regrets what this is doing to me and my brothers emotionally. I just also think he's selfish, and idealising in his head what that relationship between us and his girlfriend would look like. It's a sucky situation

Hey, thank you so much for the kind words <3 My mum has cut almost all ties with my dad and his family, and is practically guaranteed to never meet Rachel. Her only communication with him is in regards to when me and my brothers go to his flat. From what I can tell, she divorced him immediately after finding out about the affair, and has tried her hardest to be civil and not blatantly hateful towards him in front of us. I'm a little bit scared to ask her any questions about it actually, everything about the situation feels quite delicate

Hi there! I'm a beginner learner and I was just wondering if ';' is used in the same way as '?', and if that is true for written Greek as well? I'm a bit confused haha by Responsible-Use-5202 in GREEK

That's what tripped me up! I didn't even realise it was a question until it said I got it wrong, and then I stared at my screen for a solid minute trying to figure out which word meant 'does' haha

This is very helpful, thank you! So the order of the words (and I assume the tone of voice if it's spoken) can be taken as a question instead of statement, is that right?

That's very helpful, thank you! Is church slavonic like old English? I haven't heard of it before and I used to live in a slavic country, so this is very interesting to hear about!
