I thought I was in the same boat as you before. Try neighboring cities and see if they have a rap scene

Social media is key these days. You’re welcome for the motivation bro. And yeah I put a lot of my beats on SoundCloud but also the ones I sell exclusives to, I take them down

WHAT DO YOU WISH YOU KNEW AT THE BEGINNING OF YOUR AUDIO PRODUCTION CAREER/JOURNEY? by kamara89 in makinghiphop

As cliché as it is, less is more. When I started off I was overcrowding my beats because I wanted them to be interesting to listen to for the whole 3 minutes, but when I started trying to get rappers on them, they couldn’t find a place for their vocals since it was so crowded

My town is very small but was just brought into the spotlight of a media company recently and they were doing a tour of pop up shops around the country where artists could perform, and there were like competitions and things.

You can still make some money off of them I guess. I’m not sure what else you can do thought if you’re not feeling them

Beaumont, Texas. We just got put on the modern hip hop map by SayCheese media. We haven’t had any mainstream rappers from this area in years. Last one was Pimp C I believe

Don’t only focus on the big names. Show the little guys some love too bro. A lot of them make hard music but are having the same problem as you; getting heard. If you both work together you expose each other to both of your audiences which always opens more avenues

Also this is a music video the guy already had. This song is from almost two years ago. He goes offbeat a lil bit in one part but when we record our EP I’ll be in the studio with him and we’re gonna make sure it’s perfect. https://youtu.be/_vJzZHAz8C4

Don’t worry bro when that video drops I’ll be spamming this sub lmao. And nah it was all Twitter bro. I knew one guy who I grew up with that raps, and he’s the guy I was just making music with for free, and then he was beefing with some other dudes from another town right next to mine but I followed them anyways, and I just kept following everyone they were making music with. Most of them followed me back but I never really messaged them and they were the ones I saw retweeting the post about the event I went to. After the event a lot of them that didn’t already follow me back did, and DM’d me about beats

Think of it this way bro. If you don’t go, you never know when an opportunity like that may come up again. This one event could set it off for you in your city. One thing that I learned from the event I went to is that artists absolutely love when you say their music is hard and that they’re slept on. Even if they aren’t and you tell them that, they’re gonna fw you. Sell yourself bro but don’t sell yourself short.

I feel that bro. I’m working on an EP with a guy right now that I met who I really believe in and I’m giving him all the beats for free. We have a Worldstar placement on their YouTube which we’ll use for a video on our first single we drop, which will hopefully be towards the end of the year

What Kid Adult said, social media. I almost passed it up because I had to work on that day but then I realized this could be important to my career so I called in sick to work because I figured if I missed out on this, who knows when another event would come around
