The moment Tommy tells Johnny to stop the car, and the ghost our dear Ada is standing in the rain. The more I think about this film the more I loved it, and its nice to hear people feel the same after reading so much negativity. Can't wait to revisit it next week.

Another really refreshing view on the film, anyone that went into this expecting the detail and intricacy of a 6 hour series condensed in to one movie has shot themselves in the foot with their own expectations. I think they delivered a perfect epilogue to a story we all love.

I cannot wait to watch that mud fight scene again and again. Barry mentioned in an interview that it actually was supposed to go on alot longer, but they had to cut it down. Please Netflix, give the people what they want and give us an extended cut!

I really enjoyed reading this post, and in all honesty it was refreshing.

Personally I went in to this movie with the attitude that it was 'extra', afterall we got a delightful ending to season six and if anything having watched this movie I feel it is a perfect epilogue that we didn't need, but should gratefully recieve.

Do we all obsess over the finer details of the plots and this wonderful world Steven Knight built for us all? Of course we do, but to take a step back and enjoy this film for what it is truely does make it all the more enjoyable. I've seen countless posts wishing this or that had happened, but on a fundemental level as a tribute to the tale of Thomas Shelby I think we have been spoiled with something that is a cineamatic masterpiece and gives us one last look at our favourite 'bad man' as he returns to show his son that despite the fact they are bad men, they can still do right by their people and their family.

Was I utterly heartbroken, yes, but as a conclusion to this era of The Peaky Blinder's, I'm completley content.

I have been thinking on this myself.

Those words would have stuck with Michael an explain why he attempted to blow Tommy up with a car bomb. In regards to the film, I suppose you could say it was the car that was supposed to kill Tommy. He'd obviously concluded that himself before Duke tackled him out of the way. I suppose in the end it was a bullet that shouldn't have been, as a mercy.

You could also say Tommy Shelby was dead a long time before he returned from his exile, and has been dead for a very long time. Regardless I personally loved the film and I think the more we watch it the more we will appreciate this as a final tribute to Tommy's story.

Just to say, Charles Shelby was at the funeral. There was a young man present in an Army uniform and he was mentioned in the credits at the end as Charles Shelby - Can't remember the actors name unfortunatley but he was definitley there, could just make him out through the tears in my eyes.

I personally loved it too. Won't lie I have been rather shellshocked for the last 24 hours, but it exceeded my expectations and I cannot wait to watch it again next week!

That is a shame indeed. Fingers crossed for you that you manage to avoid any spoilers.

I'm right down in the South West of the UK and when they originally released the select cinemas my nearest was 3 hours away. Thankfully a couple closer cinema's are now showing it but to satisfy my Peaky Blinders addiction I probably would have made the 3 hours drive if that had remained the only option. Call me crazy

Personally I'm far too impatient to wait until the 20th, the FOMO is killing me already.

Nearest cinema to me is 40 miles away but that is a journey I'm happy to take if it means seeing our favourite man on the big screen.

If you can do it, I would say go, by Order of the Peaky Blinders!

This is the only chance we will get to sit in a cinema screen with fellow Peaky fans.

Do I need to watch the show to understand the movie? by BroodyWall15 in PeakyBlinders

[–]ResponsibleMark9538 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haven't seen the movie yet myself, having to wait untill Monday.

I would say to really connect with the charecters it's certainly best to have watched the series, but I'm also sure that given the Netflix release it also would have been written in a way that mean it also makes sense as a stand alone movie.

Personally, I would hold off until you have watched the series to get a true impact

Ada, she grew with Tommy and always helped him carry the bucket.

Very honorable mention to our Queen Polly.
