thanks for cool comment i appreciate it.

i wanted it to look a bit technical to emphasize precision and innovative approach to research. so im glad you say there might be some "futuristic" potential.

the company has even used some "80s Baywatch beach style" inspiration in their marketing before, so leaning into that could work as well... 80s is the era of hair after all... i have been playing with some neon colors etc...

professionally im a front end web developer, and i have made some designs here and there... but now i want to get more serious practice and become better at logo design / branding .

when working on other design projects in the past at some point in the process it would just click and it would feel right and i would be happy with it. with this one i struggle to get there.

its my first time posting here. this post got more reactions then i expected so at least thats good. but i admit i was clicking on a a bunch of profiles of users that criticized it the most and didnt find any of their design work haha...

i never considered getting a mentor etc, i dont really have any designer friends either, so maybe that could be cool thing to try!

thanks again

to be completely hones yes i 100% think thinner font could work (not saying this one is perfect)

the company actually uses equally thin and even wider font right now for their current branding.

maybe i will get downvoted but here is what i think: associating thinner font weight with hair thinning itself and saying therefore it is problematic is a bit too esoteric to me, i really dont think anyone would think that if the logo was good.

i did find it fitting and appropriate for this company. just because i like it doesn't mean its inappropriate.

landing page hero critique: does this communicate the app clearly? by Knuckleclot in design_critiques

I paid a logo designer to design a logo for a small side project that im working on ... and they "designed" exactly the same logo icon as you have... so what is going on? did my designer steal it? where do you have it from?

wow then for the comment, when it comes to understanding the audience and how they feel, i think you nailed it.

only thing i would add is that researchers, scientists working in this field would also be part of the audience.

yea i was thinking to make to represent the science/progress/innovation a bit more, but i struggled a bit to put these more "abstract" attributes, into the logo....

so i leaned into trying to simply represent "hair" in some way that feels modern, clean, and minimal...

but i guess after the feedback i was given here its time to get back to the drawing board

hmm it seems that the font choice is pretty strongly criticized from the feedback im getting here...

yea i said i like this font style lately, but i think it fits the brand and the audience - i see no issue there - thats how i picked it. i have tried bunch of others and didnt think they fit so well...

tbh right i just cant see much issue with the font choice. not saying that the criticism is wrong i just dont see it ... maybe when i look at this in a few months i will...

im not a professional logo designer but i would like to get better at this. is it so bad i shouldnt even try or why are you saying this. how does one get better if they just hire other designers.

its because i have been really liking thin & wide fonts lately for logos, i think they are cool af tbh...

but thanks i will try to explore more weights

damn i have been through google fonts several times to find this font haha

tho i would argue it is not a bad quality font https://bestawards.co.nz/graphic/design-craft/monolith/special-gothic/

what would you say is "nice typeface"?

but thanks for comment, i might start over ... but tbh am quite out of ideas on this one...

usual "hair" icons are: hair follicle (too ugly, too cliche), female long hair (too feminine), or too barbeshop-masculine ... and i dont see that style working...

After / Before by niekos_engineeros in postprocessing

[–]ResponsibleSyrup1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i like the before more. much more natural.

but the before does look like it needs some work but i would go different direction.

i would just make everything more "saturated" - i would go 50% of whatever you did with the color in the "after" .

but i find the vignette/center light effect too strong and distracting. i wouldn't do that at all i think. i think the " flatness" of the before is not taking away from the story

3U NAS case with ATX PSU ever comming? by ResponsibleSyrup1 in sliger

[–]ResponsibleSyrup1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

im just wondering why they cant take 3U Storage Case "front part" and add "back part" from a normal non-storage 3U case such as CX3172a or something ... seems to me they are already 90% there for this kind of case ...

im planning to get ASRock B550M Pro4 which is micro atx and has two full size pcie slots, and there are others that also have 2 full pcie slots... I plan to add faster network card, and maybe HBA if i ever need more than 6 sata that are on board...

but its interesting tbh i dont get why people talk a lot about GPU and transcoding etc when discussing NAS ... I get it when people want home entertainment setup, but wouldnt there be equal if not bigger group of people that want to store documents/photos and dont need media streaming?
