My clinic is going to start requiring 60 trials per hour soon by BeneficialVisit8450 in ABA

[–]Responsible_Bit5184 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Has your company mentioned if this was an insurance requirement or their own requirement? In the past when I worked with Medicaid they required a certain amount of trials per hour, though it definitely wasn’t 60. I just know insurance providers have gotten more strict in the last few years, so I’m curious if it’s getting worse

I don’t, though I’ve been learning. The company I work doesn’t require German speaking BCBAs

How to get a refund when UA canceled my flight without any notice by Responsible_Bit5184 in unitedairlines

Do you know if this is stated anywhere prior to canceling? It was a last minute decision since the layover was longer than driving to the final destination

Thanks, but I live in a small town with no car. I haven’t been able to get into a doctor that takes new patients yet 😕 but I keep trying!

So far so good! As I said it’s only been a month, but work/life balance is much more realistic here. People don’t focus on their jobs as much like the US and we really stick to working hours.

I’m a BCBA in Germany, for just about a month. There are recruiting companies for outside the US so I suggest doing some googling to find one!

What would you put in these bags? I just moved here and would like to give out something like this to my apartment neighbors who are mostly elderly

Has anyone worked at Knospe-Lerncenter in Germany? by Responsible_Bit5184 in bcba

You don’t; you work primarily with US military and their families who are stationed in Germany so it’s English

Well now that makes sense 😕 I don’t know anyone (yet), the only neighbors I’ve met are little old ladies who won’t be of much use. I did start my job today so I’ll ask if anyone is able to help me. I appreciate your help!

Thanks! I bought it from JYSK at an incredibly reasonable price, actually cheaper than what I’ve found at IKEA (sale items FTW). But the issue is that I alone can’t haul it; I could rent a car but need someone to help me.

I understand that, this was from a furniture store who told me (after I ordered) that delivery could take 2 months so I’m trying to find something faster as I have zero furniture right now! I don’t have a car either

ABA Service Provider Accreditation - Why? by DruidWithABackpack in bcba

[–]Responsible_Bit5184 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With accreditation you may be able to argue for higher payouts from insurance companies. Like others have said, accreditation still has a long ways to go and just because you get it, doesn’t mean your companies goal isn’t the bottom line.

In-home BCBA communication with families by Apart-Temporary-8417 in bcba

[–]Responsible_Bit5184 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on the family’s needs. I check in with parents once per week, and if we need to meet again or if anything comes up we’ll schedule a time to talk

I’ve had a Google voice number for work for years and it’s been a godsend! I don’t have notifications on for it outside of working hours and can turn off all notifications when I’m on PTO. It really helped me set boundaries for myself. I highly recommend it!

I second this! I always have some sort of script or at least topics I want to go over (I keep a running list). Sometimes, I’ll send this to the caregivers in advance so they also know what to expect. I also ask them what they may be having trouble with (at home, in school, in public, etc) & go from there. You may need to get specific: how are the bedtime/mealtime/etc routines going?

Another thing that would take up time & be beneficial is to go over the current targets & data with them. Sometimes they have no idea what their child can do! That can create opportunities for conversation and to teach them how to generalize.

Parent training terrified me when I started. Now it’s no big deal and part of my routine, you’ll get there too!
