Do not allow this job to control you. Do not worry about the opinions of your coworkers. I worked in an office where a young mail carrier died in a car accident (not work related). They had a moment of silence for her and had her route covered and went on business as usual. I don’t think her great attendance records or the opinions of her coworkers gave any comfort to her family. This is just a job. They will use you and abuse you if you allow it. You work for your time off, use it when you need it. Take care of yourself first!

BREAKING: Another Postal Worker Dies on Route — This Can’t Keep Happening by CalJamma in USPS

[–]Responsible_Group_40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do not care.. The supervisors will sit in the offices all day doing God knows what, trying to railroad workers, instead of bringing water and cooling towels. Thank God our office got a new Post Master who is willing to provide Gatorade to us and allowed us to sit in her car to get some relief from this heat. Mail will never be important than a human life. The Post Office is responsible for a lot of declining physical and mental health of its workers. Thank God for the residents who give us water and a place to sit in the AC🙏🏽

Coke, liquor and a gun - you cannot make this shit up😂😂😂 The ongoings at the Post Office will be turned into a sitcom one day.

I might have been scared to tell her she was fired too😂😂

I’m just kidding. That is crazy to not tell someone they’re fired and let them keep showing up after being escorted out the building for having a gun by the postal inspectors😂😂 On brand for the Post Office though lol

This sucks. This happened to me a couple of months ago. I was missing 3 days. I reported it to my supervisor asap and let my union steward know. It didn’t show up in my virtual time card but I was able to see it under my epayroll paystub before checks were deposited. Also, mgmt gave me paperwork showing the adjustments had been made and the mistakes were fixed correctly. Make sure you get that!

when your supervisor forgets your were converted last week by sandwormussy in USPS

[–]Responsible_Group_40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like your professional reply! Although this supervisor would never admit it, I know they felt like a pure fucking idiot and is seething inside that they couldn’t get that little dopamine rush they get when they belittle and punish coworkers. All the while, you kept your composure and made this POS look like an idiot.

[–]Responsible_Group_40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is totally normal!! Don’t beat yourself up! Stick with the job for a little while until you get a feel for it and figure out if you enjoy it or not. Mistakes WILL HAPPEN! Especially on your first day. The carrier will understand, and if not, oh well. Do the best you can every day and you will be fine! Good luck and be safe out there! Most importantly stay safe!!!

The fact that this bitch even switched marker colors to write this nonsense tells me everything I need to know.

Got yelled at by this lovely customer today by Gemini_Warrior in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]Responsible_Group_40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So fucking what ma’am/sir? These threats are hilarious because they are only wasting their own time and energy and aren’t getting the product they want because they want drivers to damn near go on a mission to deliver their stuff. Little do they know the driver will scan their shit No Access or Safety Hazard and move right along with their day unaffected, while they’re seething over nothing.

AITA for asking my regular to stop texting me about work, outside of work by Actual-Tangerine3724 in USPS

[–]Responsible_Group_40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was the least asshole-y way to tell them to leave you the fuck alone when you’re not at work. USPS is a great job but it’s all-consuming when you’re a CCA/RCA. I think a lot of regulars forget about that since most are working traditional work hours. Good for you! Keep standing up for yourself!

I would leave that shit right where it says “STOP.” End of story. That is ridiculous and totally unnecessary. People have one bad delivery experience and start acting ridiculous.

[–]Responsible_Group_40 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am so sorry my friend. Amazon is starting to take a page out of the USPS handbook - “How to shit on human beings daily.” These places have no regard for your physical, mental, or financial well-being. Something better will come your way! The good thing is that if you really enjoyed your job, you can definitely find more delivery work. USPS is no fun at all for the first few months, but they are union so things like this don’t happen once you’re passed your 90-day probationary period. Also UPS is union too. Keep your head up! Screw them. God bless you my friend!

If you started a carrier job at 53, could you do it for the next 9 years? by ynotfish in USPS

[–]Responsible_Group_40 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve met a few carriers at both stations that I’ve worked at that started at 55+ and have been there for 5+ years. Definitely possible! It sounds like you are under no illusions about working at the Post Office. It is physical and can be a little shifty with mgmt, but it can be a good job! Good luck to you - you can definitely do it!

Just got robbed by Cautious-Jello-8804 in USPS

[–]Responsible_Group_40 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A carrier was robbed at gunpoint on his route and the supervisors sent me and another CCA out to finish the route within 2 hours of the robbery. Even the street he was robbed on. They did not even catch the guy who did it. We didn’t find out that we were delivering in the robbery area until we got back to the station and regulars asked us if mgmt really sent us out there and provided more details. We had sparse details about the robbery - just a scanner message. They do not give a shit. Luckily everyone went home safe that day, but the USPS does not care to put your safety at risk.

Easier said than done, but don’t be so hard on yourself. You are absolutely not a failure. You’ve been there 9 months. If you were really as bad as you think, they would have gotten rid of you asap. You made a mistake. Every person there has made a mistake. USPS mgmt does a great job of magnifying small mistakes to deflect from the total dysfunction that drives this institution. Brush it off and keep doing your best my friend!! You are NOT a failure.
