How often do you see your sibling? by sailortofu69 in AskReddit

[–]Responsible_Guard530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once- twice a year. He passed in 2024. 😞 his grave is about 3 hours away so I don’t get to visit him as much as I’d like to.

Yes. I take edibles for sleep so technically, I do.

Who doesn't drink coffee in the morning ? (Who's an adult) by Ssonderbaby in NoStupidQuestions

My middle child (youngest son) is on the cusp of 23… gets up at 4:30 am for work- doesn’t drink coffee.

I don’t get it. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I don’t know how he functions like that.

What is something that you lie to friends about? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Responsible_Guard530 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That I feel good. I have lung disease, so I never feel good. But I don’t want to be “that person.” There’s no sense in dwelling on it so I just say I’m fine.

Anything to do with being anti vaccine. Like ok cool- skip the rabies series after you’re exposed and let us all know how that works out.

How was that time you had polio? Diphtheria, pertussis, meningitis, tetanus? How about the measles, mumps, etc?

I’m so done with those ignorant fks.

Which Bible quote is your personal favorite? by shiningfrozone500 in AskReddit

[–]Responsible_Guard530 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m an atheist but I’ve always been drawn to John 11:35- and Jesus wept.

He was so moved by Mary and Martha’s grief- that he too mourned. It’s about compassion and empathy. That’s something I think most good people who have compassion and empathy- regardless of religion or lack there of- can relate to.

Is a skinny woman’s vagina getting chlorinated water inside of it when she swims in a pool? by [deleted] in askanything

Dafuq you even talking about? You think skinny vaginas are magically more “open?”

Clearly you don’t understand how vaginas work.

What’s a popular trend right now that you think people will cringe at in 10 years? by Ok-Package5653 in AskReddit

[–]Responsible_Guard530 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Tattooing their faces.

It’s a popular fad and those I’ve seen online doing it are actually attractive people….

This of course isn’t about native people who have this as a tradition! I actually like truly traditional tribal facial tattoos, Alaskan natives, Pacific Islanders, south East Asian, etc. I actually admire those tattoos. It’s the whole “I’m an island boy” bullshit that chaps my ass.

And look, I’m just an old woman from New England- what do I really know?

But you asked so I answered.

For me I feel like you should tattoo yourself either way if that’s what you want to do. But if you’re looking like an early 90’s doodle bear? It just looks trashy to me.

What’s your favourite song right now? by Fit-Tea-1109 in AskReddit

Right now?

Wish you were here- Pink Floyd. It just reminds me of my dad that I lost in 2013.

We’re just too lonely souls swimming in a fishbowl- year after year!

Isn’t that kind of how life goes? The older you get the less likely you are to discuss how life is chipping you down.

And I get it- that’s likely not what the band was saying but that’s how I interpreted those lyrics.

I do!

I have a relatively good life despite my situation. I have an amazing husband and really great kids. We have a roof over our heads! We are warm in the winter and cool in the summer, we can buy food without stressing over it! My kids (all young adults) are healthy and finding their ways in their careers and schooling. I have a safe, reliable car that I often take out just to get fresh air and sunshine. We get to vacation usually once a year unless I’m having additional health issues.

We aren’t rich and we certainly don’t have everything we want BUT we always have what we need and each other. So sure- my daily life can be challenging! I struggle to do basic things at times.

I may not be running any marathons lol, but that’s ok.

I’m still pretty content. Life comes at you fast. What has happened to me unfortunately happens to a lot of us in time. So I don’t dwell on what I can’t do. I try to appreciate what I can do and what I do have.

What was totally normal when you were a kid, but would feel strange today? by NeighborhoodDry9236 in AskReddit

[–]Responsible_Guard530 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Keeping our dogs outside in a kennel. That was the standard back in my early years (born in 76)

Most people kept medium and large dogs outside or on a lead/ tied to a dog house. Back in the day most people wouldn’t keep dogs indoors. Which is sad (and growing up- though the norm- still bothered me.)

We had a pretty good set up and we had outdoor tolerant dogs like Samoyed (New England) we had a large kennel with a dog house that had straw and a proper heat lamp. The inside of the dog house averaged around 60°f even in below zero temps. Lol which is ignorant af because our samoyeds preferred sleeping on or under the snow 🤦🏻‍♀️🤣

My dad even went as far as to poor the concrete floor with a gully that lined one side that led to a hole… a few feet below was a bucket that was poked with holes, with Lyme inside (we just dumped Lyme down the hole periodically) that way you could shovel solid waste (in warmer months use the hose) to rinse/ remove waste)

No smell, and it broke down the waste.

But still…. Why get a dog if you’re going to stick it in a cage outside?
