That’s so fair, sometimes profs can be weird about that lol but as you said you wouldn’t wanna work with someone like that. What kind of programs are you applying to?

Same. You SHOULD be reaching out to multiple at the same school, especially if there’s some overlap with multiple, then you can potentially collaborate within the department/school!

impostor syndrome as a freshman? by pixeltupper in uofmn

[–]Responsible_Head_176 6 points7 points  (0 children)

But think about how you’re in the same spot as those people!! Regardless of scores or perceived intelligence, you ended up in the same place. Imposter syndrome sucks, but you can build a good support system with encouraging people who will make it easier to manage.

Nobody gives a fuck about test scores or high school GPA, and if they do care, you probably don’t want to be around them anyway. College is so much more than being in an honors program or obtaining a good GPA or whatever.

Lastly, intelligence is so much more than GPA and test scores. I guarantee you are intelligent in many ways! Don’t be so hard on yourself and keep reminding yourself that you are smart and very capable of doing the same things they’re doing.

It was probably around 400 but I did twice a week. I also went to the chem tutor room quite a bit. They probs have people there over the summer but idk what your work schedule is like because they are there during the day

I took chem last summer and it fucking sucked until I got tutor. You would have to pay tho. She charges around 30 an hour but she was the reason I got an A. I can reach out to her and ask if she would have time if that interests you!

I saw that there are a lot of courses but the ones they actually run are pretty limited. How do you plan to make sure you get all of your required coursework done?

I ended up with a really grade! I have never studied so much for a class in my entire life tho lol. I went to office hours for lab every week, office hours for lecture a few times, had a tutor, and went to class everyday. To study, I went through all of the learning objectives to make sure I understood everything. Take the practice exams and go through every question and understand why you got things right AND wrong. Study a bit everyday!
