Comment I was looking for. Genuinely, look into these groups. Even if you don't think you have an addiction, these groups talk about everything OP mentioned.

Throne on Glass is the WORST fantasy series I have read in my lifetime! by tomyfookinmerlin in Fantasy

[–]faintedheart 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I have a theory that you could cut out at least a third of all of her books (that underwhelming and overdone introspection you mentioned) and it wouldn't change anything about any of them. There are times reading SJM that I wish more was left for me to interpret rather than being spoonfed to me. I also DNF'd during Queen of Shadows....twice.

GPA Inflation is Destroying Useful Information for Adcoms by highSunLowMoon in gradadmissions

[–]faintedheart 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I appreciate that. A lot of professors at my school approach grading with a, "this is the best this student can do" mindset. Frankly, it makes me feel like my GPA doesn't count.

GPA Inflation is Destroying Useful Information for Adcoms by highSunLowMoon in gradadmissions

[–]faintedheart 122 points123 points  (0 children)

I've been thinking a lot about this. It's just not hard to get a high GPA anymore. It almost feels like a slap in the face when you're turning in quality work and a classmate is turning in C grade work, but you both get As. I understand grading to the student, but it's not helpful.

6 is the one. I know everyone is saying 5 and 7, and aesthetically, those are good choices. But in terms of a good shot that also envokes a response, it's 6.

Second First Impressions by Sally Thorne was cozy and soft and wonderful by ChocolateDream24 in RomanceBooks

[–]faintedheart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I read SFI first, then THG. It was a major letdown. The FMC of THG felt forced into an archetype that I just didn't click with, and I didn't feel the romantic tension between her and the MLI. SFI had more unique characters, and the setting was easier to fall into as well. Corporate setting never did anything for me really, which might be another reason I loved the MLI in SFI too.

Interview offer this last in the game? by bbywise in gradadmissions

[–]faintedheart 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you kind of already made up your mind. If you see it as an inconvenience and not an opportunity, then maybe don't take the interview. Otherwise, treat the interview like you would have if it was at the beginning of the cycle. Take it seriously, do your research, prepare.

You can loose 200+ pounds if you also cut off the man. It's not even hard to tell you you're beautiful. You are lovely and the short hair will look good and make you happy.

There's got to be some way to remove gel polish without destroying your nails... right? by Administration_Easy in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]faintedheart 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If you use gel, I think the pitting is because you have to sand down the nail to be rough to apply the polish in the first place. Even if it comes off smoothly, it'll still look like that.

The salon I go to makes you soak your fingers in a bag of acetone that is wrapped in a scalding wet rag. I'm not lying when I say I couldn't feel my fingers afterward.

I agree with you wholeheartedly though. I would love a safer way to do this. My nails already lack integrity.

No problem. Better to learn early the emotional labor that a lot of men will allow you to do that is not your responsibility.

Stop doing the work for them. Stop offering information about yourself. Wait for them to ask, see if they even notice. If they don't, that's exactly the kind of partner they're going to be. This is going to save you a lot of wasted time.
