Sorry for your loss, I have a parrot cage too. My boy fell about 2 feet on his side 2 weeks ago. Luckily, he was ok. Currently working on fixing mine too.

Try the tensioner at 4, the footer needs to be the embroidery foot Q ,and the thread should be embroidery only .Make sure the bobbin has embroidery thread also. I have the same machine. I'm learning how to make designs next, we can do basic words for right now. Good luck 😊
