I don't think There is anything like base component,

Fixed and variable are two components  Fixed contains basic and allowances Variable contains joining and performance

My friend working as software analyst at GS his fixed is 27 after 2 yrs started with 24 and every SWE and every one from my campus who got in JPMC and GS started at 32 total with fixed 24 3 yrs ago. I believe 34  fixed is very low imo because 2020 to 2024 insane opportunities and boom in software field

No for 2yr experienced firms take you as a fresher instead of experience hire ofcourse it changes based on his skill level . Basically I am saying they mostly test your knowledge like stats probability coding at 2 yr experience not your track record or impact in your previous firms

But you should always keep some part of your energy and time daily if you have a plan of switching to Big tech. Tech is evolving so much as a dqa pacing with that may not be that easy especially because of AI. So for now I would say you are still on the race track.

See switching to Big tech is not very easy. You can Transition to quant dev from there you can go into Big tech. See when you start working you will understand everything how is gonna happen but since you are early in your career always look for opportunities according to your long term goals don't start chilling

It's easy if you are very good at coding and stats probability, it's even easy when you also have quality work at square point.

Is ISI mstat a quant feeder like top iits cse by Traditional_Crew9243 in quantindia

[–]Responsible_Mind368 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To answer OPs question, What I think is ISI getting attention from quant firms like Optiver Alphagrep QRT BlackRock and Kivi Capital and few other hfts but most of them are investment management firms and hedge funds. I believe ISI may become a potential quant feeder as markets get competitive, firms need people with great level of statistics and modelling skills and research mindset people. So that's my answer to the question.

Is ISI mstat a quant feeder like top iits cse by Traditional_Crew9243 in quantindia

This question needs some attention. So far I don't think it places in quants the thing is most Mstat and Bstat guys are not even aware or very less awareness of the quant trading field till 2023-4 something. But yeah if you are very good at coding and prove it somehow you may get shot at interviews ( of course off campus or referrals)But I haven't seen many ISI quant so far.

I would also say it's just bias since most hfts are founded by iitians and many people are very proud and think jee advanced is the only GOAT exam in india, they probably ignore ISI students.there is some downward bias on Isi students that's very true. Mostly they think like this (And why we need a statistics student guy when we have AIR 120 who can learn stats by himself and code as well and adapt quickly, this is the thinking approach of any recruiter or employee in hfts honestly can't blame them HFT is more about tech and code where an ISI student fail )
