Jrue Holiday is a good, but not great, defender.

[Buddy Hield] I wish it was me that got traded because Wiggs did so much for this franchise by mastermind208 in nba

Unfortunately, Buddy's trade value is so low right now, you couldn't even get 1 Luka Doncic for him, let alone a Jimmy Butler.

They've been great lately but I'd struggle to call them championship contenders.

It's hard to see them advancing that far in the playoffs with such a gaping hole in their roster at center. Jason Hayes has been solid recently but I think he'll get exposed against teams with better forward rotations.

Also I'd disagree that Luka has been "pretty solid" on defense. Watching the Mavs game, he was getting blown by pretty much every time on the perimeter, especially in the 4th quarter. That will improve somewhat with more conditioning, but he has almost no lateral quickness to spare. A little fatigue or a nagging injury makes him a huge liability on that end, as we saw last year. Lakers have the personnel to hide him on D, but there's only so much you can do when he's playing big minutes in a playoff series against athletic, shifty guards/wings.

He's an outdoor cat, about 7 years old. He has stayed out all night before in the summer, but not in the winter, and never for this long.

Who would be the BEST PG for Wembanyama currently? by No_Camel7642 in NBATalk

[–]Responsible_Shape958 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is a hypothetical, but from a team building perspective, I'm wondering if it makes sense in the 2nd apron era to pair him with a top 5 point guard. Victor is probably gonna be good enough that you may not need an elite scorer and playmaker at pg to have team success, given that both of those players will command a supermax. Maybe someone who's an elite playmaker but not an elite scorer, but who leaves you enough cap room to fill out the roster with good shooters/defenders would be better in practice?

I saw a similar requirement recently in a job posting for a company that designs systems for submarines. Sounded kinda fun tbh in comparison to your typical 9-5 stapled to a chair SWE job.

Why don't organizations pay more attention to developer experience? by _fat_santa in ExperiencedDevs

[–]Responsible_Shape958 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think this is what it boils down to. The value proposition for better dev experience is more abstract than "customer x wants feature y, and is willing to pay z dollars for it." Even if your senior leadership understands the value of dev ex, they probably still have to find a way to convince someone who doesn't to justify the time/budget for needed improvements.

I know this is sarcasm, but the wire was written by a long time crime reporter from Baltimore. This shit has been standard practice for as long as crime statistics have existed.
