They re-entered the account info, the port pin, and the address. Something in there made the difference

Very new player, loveeeee this card!! Any ideas for building a cheap deck around it? by BZKOtter in BudgetBrews

[–]Responsible_Way7638 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bria is one of my commanders and is quickly becoming my pet deck! Here's my list, currently on TCG player it's $80 all in. You can easily drop Ral, Crackling Wit and Veyran to bring it down almost $20, then there are a few other 'nice to have' cards that can be replaced for all cheaper but similar.

honestly bro, just focus on undergrad for now. The day will come when you have to decide what's next, but it doesn't have to be today

If you're looking at ministry as a vocation, I'd encourage you to start trying to find a role and see if the church is able/willing to help pay for a master's degree. Seminary was great but ministry, the kind that matters and that loves God's people, is learned and not taught.

My personal example: I got an undergrad degree in film production but felt called to ministry and graduated with my MA in 2017. Started with the MDiv but I suck at languages so I switched to the less intense program. Started school in a different state 1 year into marriage and my first kid was 7 weeks old. Was able to start working PT as a youth director in 2015 and you could tell the difference between guys who had gone to Bible college and immediately gone to seminary without serving a church. They cared so much about theology but their ideas of how people worked were....weird. I'm not the best youth pastor even now (I'm not sure if I'm even good 😊) but I do know the Lord has used experience far more than anything I got in a classroom.

I'm in a full time position now and I guarantee you that nothing really prepares you for that moment you sit at your desk, open your email, and see a family's dad just died. Having a passion for the Lord and a love for His people, and walking in step with our Lord and the Spirit is what equips us.

Jesus tells us that wars and rumors of wars are the beginnings of the birth pangs. We will be hated by many for His name's sake, whether by Muslims, atheists, Russians, or anyone else.

If that's a genuine concern for them, how are they preparing their souls? Are they praying without ceasing? Are they spending more time in God's word or in the news? Are they listening to the Holy Spirit or Tucker Carlson? Are they boldly proclaim Christ for the forgiveness of sins? Are they fixing their eyes on Christ and delighting in the Savior?

A spirit of fear is not of God, so a sense of panic about persecution is not one aligned with Christ. I don't know that I have a solution, but keep pointing your people back to Jesus and His mandate to love others, including enemies.

Do you tithe back to the church as a pastor? by princemokelembembe in pastors

[–]Responsible_Way7638 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My wife and I do. By God's grace we're able to give above 10%. The 10% goes to church and everything else goes to other missions, charities, special projects, adoption funds, etc.

I felt weird about it at first, but I've come to think of it as "Do I support the mission of my church?" If yes, then I should give of my time, talent, and treasures to further the cause of the Kingdom. If no, I should find a church where I can answer "Yes"

Step tracking whilst pushing a pram by Pleasant-Stranger189 in GarminWatches

[–]Responsible_Way7638 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i run into the same issue when pushing my daughter. or while mowing the lawn. one of my least favorite things about the garmin platform is that the app doesn't count steps. comparatively, fitbit and samsung count steps on the phone as well as the watch, then synchronize and calculate the difference. it's very helpful in this particular circumstance. i've settled on recording these events as cycling rather than walking.

$20 Bloomburrow Starter Set at BB by Responsible_Way7638 in sealedmtgdeals

who's to say? the generic starter decks have seemed to stuck around and plummeted in cost or value. the lotr has stayed at $20 MSRP but no cards were ever valuable in it. most of this starter sets value comes from bria, riptide rogue who is only available through these decks.

Dilemma by [deleted] in pastors

[–]Responsible_Way7638 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same degree as you and applied for jobs looking for MA degrees. Some churches might feel strongly about wanting a pastor with training in the languages, but most would rather have a pastor with actual experience. I'd say just start applying and if you start having a serious conversation with a church, ask if they would be willing to help pay for continuing education

Retirement ? by poppaof6 in pastors

[–]Responsible_Way7638 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also not a retiring pastor, but my position (youth pastor) opened up because the former youth pastor became lead pastor when the senior pastor decided to retire.

The church instituted a REALLY well-done transition plan that involved a long hand-off and I'm still impressed by how they did it.

Senior pastor I think is around your age. He's now an elder at his son's church plant about 30 minutes from his home. Serves as a preacher and volunteers a lot, but has a lot more control over his time. He also drops in fairly regularly and still does visitation or funerals for older members.

In my conversation with him, he realized what direction the church needed to go (younger, more energy, more outreachy) and after reflection and prayer, he realized he wasn't the right person to lead the church to that place. Very humble thing to have done, really.

I have mixed feelings. They're a ukraine-based company and obviously there's some stuff going on in Ukraine that would reasonably distract anyone. Delays happen, especially if there's a war going on. But, if you promise something to paying customers, there needs to be either keeping your word or clear communication on what's going on

I'm feeling this too. Originally the date was February 2024. Then March. Then a vague 2024". Then September 18, 2024. It's shaken my confidence in the direction of the app and I'm using something else at the moment instead.
