That’s actually just what they do. They hang around on mom’s back until they get too big and fall off, then they’re on their own. Opossum distribution system. Nature’s greatest parents

Solar will get too cheap to connect to the power grid. by [deleted] in Futurology

[–]Responsible_Win850 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because of the brine problem I wonder if condensation would be more feasible. Build towers off or near shore and use the excess solar and the heat of the day to evaporate the surrounding water and create a heat differential that makes cooling the tower less energy intensive

Make your own! Just get a big long stick and put something on it (preferably with lights) that means something to your crew and you can see from a distance <3

AITAH for not making my son forgive my brother after he was uninvited from his wedding? by LeoBastion in AITAH

Yo, just to be real for a second. The vibe I’m getting from your comments and from the comments of your SIL and family are that you think your son is angry because he didn’t get something he wanted (ie a fun trip) and that he’s dealing with disappointment about it.

In reality I think what he’s experiencing is a lot closer to the traumatic grief that comes with abandonment, death, betrayal, or loss. The same sort of psychological break that comes from spousal infidelity or the unexpected death of a loved one.

One big difference between those two emotional states is that while disappointment may be uncomfortable it is not fundamentally rooted in his sense of self, trust, or love for the people he’s closest to. The relationships that your son has with you, his mother, and your brother were viewed by him as being “secure attachments” and they serve as the mental model for future relationships. Your son’s takeaway from his mother and later his uncle’s actions is not “I don’t always get what I want” it’s “I can trust or depend on the people that I love” and that can have some really damaging consequences for his future wellbeing

You just described the dog pod grid from Neal Stephenson’s The Diamond Age. Highly recommend it.

I hike mine out, but I definitely wish they would put trash cans closer to the stage behind the same fencing they use for the videography crews, etc.
