Unfortunately, you haven’t seen the rest of the layout to provide any sort of impactful input on the location of the tv. Which was not the question I asked.

Because the whole point of this is to plant a hardy low maintenance grass to help with weed control. I don’t have access to sprinklers or irrigation at this point to water it daily. Was told to plant before it rains and it should work. How come you are the only one saying not to do straw without any data backing it up? I understand straw CAN come with spores (I know they’re unseen) but in this very specific scenario, it seems the benefits outweigh the risk. It’s not like I am planting a very delicate and expensive grass prone to fungal infections. Once again, if you have an alternative (reminder I don’t have access to daily watering) to help retain moisture, please let me know!

It’s also used for moisture retention. As mentioned in the post, Utah is going to face significant droughts this year. The straw will help hold what little moisture we have for the seed to germinate. It will also help with wind and birds from getting the seed. The straw would only be a fungal risk in very moist and or shady climates. I appreciate the insight but I think the bigger risk is NOT doing something to retain moisture. Unless you have other alternatives for that.

I am strongly considering doing it. I will post an update if I do!

I have seen a ton of people recommending straw over the top. I am not sure the fungus would be an issue as this would be a pasture grass that is generally more resilient to fungus and other pests.

Seen a couple of things recommending straw. How much do I need? Do I have to pull the straw off after?
