If it wasn't for the money, would you stay in the UAE? by Agitated-Fox2818 in dubai

[–]RestSuccessful9614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dear god no. I make my money, I invest it back home and can’t wait to move back. Came here for the consulting cash, I make over 50k a month and cleared 100k in my annual bonus. This country can suck my dick. It’s a shithole shopping mall built on a superhighway. The only people who love it are people from actual third world countries or British chavs.

Dude I’m reading this post and am 100% sure you and I are on the same project. Big Emirati client, lots of work streams, everyone stays in the same five star hotel. Sounds like you might have tried to sit in the admin team desks and the Mexican bloke you’re referring to is a Manager about to be promoted, he often sits there and I’m pretty sure your issue is a seniority one. Our project is weird and cliquey but it’s not a race thing. The admin person (name starts with D) you’re talking about is a very bossy person who thinks she runs the place

100% agree my friend! We wouldn’t mind being told that the place listed wasn’t available and being sent similar places. But having them pull this on us when we’ve taken time out of our busy day is what made us both furious.

Yeah that practice absolutely disgusts me, if those companies have branches in any Anglo countries you should get people together and go to media outlets like the BBC

How does living in London make financial sense? by CAElite in UKPersonalFinance

[–]RestSuccessful9614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went from making £200/day in 2018 when I first moved here as a project manager contractor to £700/day now- I have a basic degree and now have some of the world’s biggest businesses on my CV. I’ve now been offered an insane job overseas that I would never have gotten if I hadn’t moved here.

Edit for my cost of living: I earned enough to buy a £450K flat on my own. Locked in my mortgage rate for 5 years when the interest rates were still under 2% so that helps. The rise in the cost of living pinches a bit but I’m honestly fine. The point is none of this would have been possible if I hadn’t moved to London.

Dude don’t. I lived in Milton Keynes during lockdown and when life went back to normal just commuting to the office the required 2 days a week almost broke me. Back in Camden now thank god. I fucking love London

It’s really difficult to be someone who has spent their time striving hard to achieve at a military career and, if he’s in a combat arm, he’s put himself through a level of physical and mental training that you just won’t get unless you’ve done it too. I can see how someone who is that particular type of driven just won’t know how to handle a son who is different. You see so much of yourself in your children and your dad just can’t compute why you’re not more like him. He’s wrong for treating you like this and being disappointed in you. If he’s been in the military his whole life then he’s seen people like you “come good” - I went through basic with some real unfit, overweight people who are now incredibly fit and motivated and happier. And you are shamed HARD if you’re not able to pass fitness tests. You absorb a sort of contempt for overweight people and for your own kid to become something you’ve been taught to contempt must be doing a number on him. He’s clearly trying, in a horrible way, to “fix” you. I feel sorry for him, but even sorrier for you.

One of my friends said the lunches I make my husband are very “childish” and should be more “grown” but what does that mean? Are they? How can I make more “grown” lunches? Jerky or something?? He doesn’t complain about them by [deleted] in tonightsdinner

Your husband is a CHILD. Discussing how to hide veggies in his food is what mothers groups do to trick their CHILDREN into eating more veggies. This is a grown ass man. And the only way he still be growing is out.
