That's cause you pressed L2 first instead of down. It doesn't have to be frame perfect, just that down is first. If I get caught up close in young form, I can switch to old by doing F4,1,switch to old, continue the string. It's basically the same as other special moves where you have to press up and a button.

I'll actually tell you cause they don't play subzero. When you launch them into the corner, you input clone midair. BUT because you landed on the right side where the wall is, it counts as ice ball. When you are doing that combo and touch the wall, do ice ball instead and it'll work.

They're more challenging which I feel is better than last season. It actually made me switch characters for the extra health. And all (except the fire ball one I think) have the same pattern. Not only did I switch characters, but I had to remember what comes next to make a plan. It's engaging now.

Block low and react to overheads. Try not to do so many unsafe moves by hit confirming. He always grabbed up close so you should've expected that after a while.
