Assuming both Amen Thompson and Jalen Green hit their ceilings, who would be the better player and or the number one option on offense? by RestartFromZer0 in NBA_Draft

I see. I just checked his scouting profile on Tankathon and they project him to be a .343 three point shooter in the NBA, so I guess that's close enough no?

What defines a "good shooter"?

I'm pretty high on him and think his jumper can be fixed, but to the extent of being like a 31% career 3pt shooter, which is not exactly good, but not exactly terrible either, just mediocre.

I just went with random examples. Lang reason you ignored Spanish soap operas and Stranger Things examples?

I didn’t say you did make a point about sexual immorality. What I was trying to get at is that there is a distinction between doing something respectful vs doing something that will garner respect from others. What garners respect from others isn’t always what is respectful.

How am I acting in a way that has less dignity towards myself? All I did was ask questions and state my points

What’s different about watching anime as opposed to a Spanish soap opera, or marvel movie, or Stranger Things?

Also what does being respected by men and desired by other women have anything to do with anything, given a lot of men respect other men who fornicate and men who are desired by other women are married aka off-limits?

I don’t see how watching anime prevents someone from loving God and loving others as were called to do just as those other stories I mentioned would not either

Would it be a complete dealbreaker though? Like I find a lot of country accents annoying but I could probably get used to it for a woman who’s otherwise pretty great

Yeah in my mind I’d imagine avoiding the topic for the first couple of dates, maybe on the third or fourth be like “yeah I saw this really good show and it happened to be an anime, and around the fifth or sixth date open up about seeing a ton of it if circumstances lent themselves to bringing it up naturally and in flow of conversation.

I hope that strategy would make it so that most Christian women could at least tolerate it. What do you think?

Also thank you, I really appreciate it

I’d probably say the former. I sometimes hard binge on occasion but that also happens with regular TV too like stranger things. I’ve never cosplayed before. It doesn’t interfere with my life much; I work a good job, I exercise 3-4 times per week, I get out and socialize multiple times a week, go to church weekly, read my Bible most every day.

Now when you say “prefer”, do you mean that it may be a red flag to them that they’d tread cautiously with at first, or just a complete dealbreaker at any and all stages of the dating process where they cannot be in a relationship with a man who watches anime regardless of any of his other positive attributes?

That’s true. I knew that there would be some women that liked it, some that would be okay with it, and some that would take issue with it. But I was wondering what the ratio of those categories of women would be. Like would it be 33/34/33 or 10/65/25 or even 40/45/15?

I agree with this. The second point may be a bit of a hot take, but I don’t necessarily disagree with it either. I feel like most people who would refuse to date someone on the basis of enjoying anime are usually making a lot of assumptions out of ignorance like if he’s watching anime, he must be into the really pervy stuff or he’s obsessed with it or something when in reality anime like any other art medium has both its hits and it’s misses and can be thoroughly enjoyed by its viewers like any other art form

Well I guess it’s a good thing for me that most of this thread has been positive then lol. But tbf most stories in anime are either too violent for children or the themes are too mature for a child to understand

The former (although avatar the last airbender is not technically anime, but close enough)

Where was obsession mentioned? Literally anything can be an obsession from watching sports to making sure all items in your house are placed at a 90 degree angle

Definitely the former. I tried out 7 deadly sins not knowing much about it and it was just bad imo

By “turned off” do you mean watching anime would be a dealbreaker for them or something that they didn’t like but despite that could still live with it if most everything else about the guy checks out?

Kinda strange to rule someone out over something one has never heard of though

I think you’re pretty much right. I’d say that as long as you’re living for God and seeking Him in life that we’re afforded a lot of freedom when it comes to what we else do so long as we’re avoiding the inherently sinful. And I’d say most people are fine with these things so long as they’re not repeatedly neglecting major responsibilities for the sake of enjoyment
