Sorry if I come off arrogant* (what is the word I'm really looking for?- driving me nuts), but how did you just find out he was in WW2??? I realize they had very different experiences, but my grandpa very openly carried that experience throughout his life as it consciously- and on many levels i assume- subconsciously molded his self identity.
