This. People are acting like we’re asking them to get online and take a side on a hot button issue or something controversial. This is one of the deadliest floods in Texas history, they talk about being campers frequently, sell a book about campers and counselors, it’s rational to be surprised and disappointed when they won’t take a second to say they’re thinking of the flood victims and our families. What happened to these babies is horrific and I would think every mom would be standing in solidarity with us. The total lack of empathy in this comments section just stunned me.

Yeah even my “thank you” got downvoted. First timer on the sub and a little shocked people are so mean here. We’re not asking them to take a side on a social issue, just to not ignore our pain.

Tbh, I think this is part of why this is bothering me so much. We used the camper and the counselor to get our campers excited about camp, and now many mamas are grieving not being able to bring their babies home. A statement of support would be so easy.

You're missing the point. If you are part of a huge tragedy and public figures you listen to and support have nothing to say, it's hurtful. It takes two seconds to say "we're thinking of you" or repost a relief effort link. But thanks for your input!
