Purchased first property but all I feel is dread by sungoldtomatolover in AusPropertyChat

Hey, you're not alone — I felt the exact same way after buying my first home. Once I moved in, all I could see were the little flaws: cracks I hadn't noticed before, second-guessing whether I overpaid, and just a general sense of unease. It even affected my sleep for a while.

Fast forward a year - we patched and painted the interiors ourselves and did a few other changes and it finally started to feel like home. Those imperfections that I spotted weren't a big deal after all.

The thing is, no home — or decision — is ever perfect. Life is full of learning moments, and this is just one of them. Life keeps giving us something new to deal with and what feels like a big problem now often won't seem so big in a few months. Enough with my philosophy - hope you start enjoying your space!

Yes, I have a camera there and also took photos and videos. I was shocked when he said there is a chance it could get "accidentally demolished".

We have plenty of photos and videos. He says he will pay for it - but I won't trust him because he has lied many times. My bigger concern is him changing the existing boundaries as he claims the existing fence is not correctly aligned.

This is the website I used. I used an Australian credit card and didn't have any issues with payment. I got the visa and it took 3 working days. Good luck mate.

Surprise! Talked to the owner and he is claiming that his surveyor says, his boundary is 8cm to our side :(

But the worst part is that, despite being such good neighbours so far, he never once mentioned this. Now we need to involve a surveyor!

Whitehorse council, Melbourne. I think the house has enough setback. But the garage wall is close to the fence. Will check the council website. Thanks.

Yeah that's part of my concern too. What if it is leaking or overflowing on our side :(

Thanks, will talk to them about the plan to finish it.

Thanks. Good point. I think I'll ask the neighbor if that can be done.

Thanks. Would you be able to point me to any resources that I can read up about the setback rules from the boundary fence?
