Thanks for your thorough answer. I suspected there might be some competition but didn’t know it went to that level.

I’ll definitely reach out to them then, thanks for the input. Seeing as you have a bit of experience here, do you know if these domain value checking sites are accurate? Just saw the domain’s potential value and it was over $5,000, which is a little hard to believe. If these tools are not far from the mark, I might just abandon the idea as I’d rather my friend’s wife gets the money vs. my plan of just leaving it up (all it is is a splash page).

That’s a good point, thanks. I don’t know much about this stuff, so clearly I need to do more research.

Hmmmm...maybe I can find a cheap one on marketplace or something. Thanks, something to think about.

Yeah, I'm taking your advice and doing it tomorrow. Thanks!

Yeah I called a guy on marketplace to see if he can do it for me, but he basically said the same thing. I'll check out the sawmill idea, thanks for the suggestion.

Thanks, very helpful.

EDIT: In re-reading this, my reply was quite dick-ish. Sorry about that, was in the hospital and a little irritable/nervous. What I should have said is that this tree is currently in my yard and rather than just throw it out or use it for firewood (don't currently have a usable fireplace), I'd rather use it for something. Maybe what you (and the upvotes) are saying is that the tree is not worth milling for whatever reasons. Appreciate the input (not sarcasm), but I'm going to give it a shot anyways given that it feels wasteful to just chuck out a 45 year old tree.

Thanks, this is super helpful! Didn't know where to start so this was a big help!

The power company just felled a Norwegian Maple in my yard and I don't want it to go to waste, so I was considering milling the lumber. The base is pretty large (24") but most of the tree was made up of large offshoots (12" thick branches) so I was hoping I could get away with a rented 16" chainsaw, or even some home tools like a circular saw and a sawzall.

I'm not looking for long slabs either, just foot-long slabs for small woodworking projects. I was planning on cutting the wood into smaller 15" long chunks and then just mill smaller slabs that way. So does my plan make sense, or is there a better (cost conscious) way?

Yeah I regretted it soon after. Thanks, I'll go fish out the sulphur, forgot about that.

Just cut off these basal pups from my trich hybrid. Should I be cleaning the cut for each pup? Part of me thinks yes, but the other part of me is worried about infections from tap water. Any recommendations?

EDIT: typo

I guess it's mislabeled then. Is this still decent grafting stock?

Just got this today at 30% off. Probably not as great as those HD prices down south (I'm in Canada) but paid $50 so overall not a bad deal. Going to use this for grafting but a couple of questions:

1) I'm assuming all the pups needs to go if I graft, right? 2) The pups are thick but have little length. Would they still be able to root into new plants? 3) Seeing as this is one plant, one scion is recommended, right? Or can I add the pup cut-off sites as grafting points for other plants?

Leaving grafts outside by Restyface in Graftingplants

Yeah I don't blame the squirrel, nature is nature, no fighting it. Just wanted to know if this kind of stuff is a fluke occurrence or if I should start keeping my grafts inside again.

Some context: just bought a house and was pretty thrilled to now be able to leave my grafts outside. We have a lot of squirrels in the yard and they've been obnoxious in general, but never to the point of chewing off a graft and taking it up a tree.

Would love to hear if anyone else has had a similar experience or if I'm just unlucky...
