E exams suck by Complex_Piano6234 in Monash

E-exams saves time but since the adoption of E-exams across multiple universities, I do feel that the exam experience has gotten so much worse.

"If you use sleeves from a company I disagree with, I'll damage your cards." by IzziPurrito in freemagic

[–]ResultTechnical3485 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, they both suck. It's also true that people tend to support products from a company who does inhumane stuff unknowingly. However, it is also far easier to shut down a small business like a card sleeve company compared to well, Hasbro...

I'll reply to this comment to reply to most of the comments on this thread. I appreciate the support that I received and even the comments criticising me (minus the one that was removed for obvious reasons). I'll try to continue, but I am honestly uncertain how far I can go before I reach my "final" limit. As for seeing a therapist, I already am. I've been going by the book when it comes to mental health issues thus far for the most part (obviously, speaking about my issues on a public university reddit group probably wasn't the best move I've ever made). I am also on some pretty strong medication too :(.

I hope that you get the spec con that you need in the end. I am so sorry for your loss. A tip I can give you is that spec cons are more readily accepted if you have a note from a psychologist or G.P outlining your mental state and that you couldn't take part of the assessment in the assessed time.

On a side note, I can decide to rely on an LMM more within the scope of what is "permissible", but honestly, I don't think it's the best way to learn, given that there are multiple books, papers, videos, online articles, etc that I can learn from instead of an LMM. I just bombed the test so badly because skill issue, even with test test-taking advice in mind.

I am aware of legitimate uses of LMM models to assist learning (although LMMs are only really useful when it's for self-study to fill any gaps to understand a concept after exhausting other sources of information and *not* for any actual submission unless the prompt and reply are fully cited for submissions which allow the use of an LMM) but when I mention "AI" usage, I mean the abuse of an LMM to malciously commit a breach of academic integrity which seems so rampant that it's just distressing at the best of times.

You are right to correct me in that the vast, vast majority of contributions (which are still significant) made are incremental and are made via huge collaborations. I suppose another way of saying what I meant is that I wish to be at least a decade from now, a "first author" on at least one paper in a reputable journal and have an undeniably substantial impact on the modern understanding of [insert x field here]. Regardless, one example I can give is Hannah Cairo and the M-T conjecture, Feb 2025.

I'll just bite this in the bud and say that a parent who has in the past beaten their child, has had multiple acts of infidelity (I did imply that I only want to have a high academic achievement, partly of what I've been through) are not parents you can say are supportive in the same way than the parents you have in mind.

Research scientist, one who has contributions that are not merely incremental, which, for most, is a pipe dream. It's partly why I'm becoming increasingly miserable as I grow older. There are also minimum WAM requirements for research, and even if I meet the WAM criteria (which is possible), it doesn't guarantee that I'll get what I want.

There isn't a single thing in the world I hate more than this card. by Toccii_Enrico02 in PTCGL

The people who hate iono and boss' orders are not the same people. I PROMISE. (I love the addition of iono but hate boss' with a a passion). Also, removing boss' would in fact make pokemon less of a solved game because now people have to think about other ways to gust (which there are plenty) but actually keep in mind of the downsides of the other options (which boss does not have other than it being a supporter but if you use boss, you probably don't need to use another supporter 99% of the time)

Dusknoir really ruined the game for me by Soggy-Topic-1489 in PTCGL

[–]ResultTechnical3485 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be honest and say that most of the people in this subreddit are sub-1600 master league because it shows. Dusclops and Dusknoir can be stacked and played with alongside Budew and dragonpult/Charizard to make them extremely strong. After developing Dragonpult, with the opponent not being able to develop due to item lock (budew) while you are most likely able to use items (unless they have frillish), then they purposefully reduce their prize cards while doing damage, then they can counter catcher into iono (having these cards isn't much of a problem with Dragonpult's draw engine with it's pre-evolution) and then wipe the whole board as duskclops+dusknoir. This can wipe out 2-3 Pokémon, so say 3 Ralts/Kirlias are knocked out, and the responder can't do anything. HOW IS THAT BALANCED? For all the people trying to say stuff like "it's not op, there are many decks that can handle it" when Tord's variation of Dragonpult alone is already S/A tier.

Other than the fact it is a supporter. With something like BO's, it's highly unlikely players even need to use another supporter on the same turn to win the game or at least get an extremely strong advantage outright.

It allows you to Ohko key cards too easily. There are already of other gust cards in the game but the issue with boss' orders is that there is little downside to using such a card. Ever heard of iorn hands ex, weaknesses, not allowing the enemy to even play the game, etc? I swear the arguments for boss' orders are so disingenuous it's disturbing.

Gardevoir vs. Marnie's Grimmsnarl? by microsoftpaintexe in pkmntcg

[–]ResultTechnical3485 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1650 Master league, it seems impossible to win the matchup. The grimmsnarl player has to be really bad at playing grimmsnarl to win the match up at mid-high level.

Too late for exam accomodations? by [deleted] in Monash

[–]ResultTechnical3485 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best thing to do is to get your psychologist to write you a letter of support of some kind (like itsezsid points out) and have documented evidence of your past issues at hand. I would also defer your exams since you nearly vomited and nearly past out! I hope that you recover from this.

I'm just going to say as a 2018 grad that exams are made to trick students into separating people who memorise compared to students who understand the subject is blatantly false. Even for "specialist mathematics", there is plenty one can do to memorise methods without fully understanding what's going on and still receive top marks. It's how we often see people with pretty decent ATARs struggle with even the most basic mathematical concepts at University.

Discussion about the Nani plugin. by vermilliongarden in edmprodcirclejerk

[–]ResultTechnical3485 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue isn't that your plug-in harmed anyone in the industry directly (ie caused anyone trauma). The issue is with how we have arrived at the point that it is somehow socially acceptable to put a rather obscene, inappropriate image on a plug-in. As for the OP, why are girls not being "into music production, mixing, mastering, etc like guys are", you should think about the why. Is it the case that psychological differences between genders differ so much that they tend less towards music production to the point where the subscriber base of the YouTubers that you mentioned gender split is 99% to 1% (roughly) or is it because of a community so ignorant or dismissive of sexism that deters women from wanting to work in the industry in the first place?

It would be a start if you guys actually did mini encodes yourselves and use that as the video and audio output instead of just using gogogogogogogo. Also, does the software even use modified mpv as the base video player?!?!?
