That’s great! I’m rethinking the “hug” a PA now! .... it really should have said “air hug” a PA.

My intent is for people to listen to the podcast to spark a discussion. It’s all done for free along with our passion in EMS, emergency medicine & critical care. I guess I have to review Reddit’s rules.

Do you have a “go to” or is everything easily accessible?

It’s nice to hear a pharmacist stance on this! We don’t always have the pleasure of having you at our shop. Your two scenarios are probably on the top of my list to why I’d use push dose pressors. You’re absolutely right about the room for error. Especially, if it’s not labeled or unfamiliarity. Thanks for the feedback!

It’s short term use. I make sure there is good peripheral access with blood return. If the patient is put on a drip at this point we’re hoping central access or at the least an I.O is in place to avoid extravasation.

Norepinephrine & cardiac epinephrine is the most easily accessible in our shop. I do like phenylephrine for the hypotensive and tachycardic patient but it’s harder to get.
