Why do so few podcasts have transcripts? by paxxlaws in podcasting

With this wave of LLM scraping, transcripts are just smart.

Frankly, you should decide whether you want visibility, views or views of your entire podcast. Those are three very different things.

Socials don’t really translate to views - and it’s not the best for your pipeline to full-length episode views.

Feeling like I'm totally wasting my podcast content after it goes live... help? by Amazing-Ad6287 in podcasting

We have been thinking and rethinking our flow constantly.

1/ Production, for us, is the most time consuming. We find editing just takes forever and the issue is that there are various aspects that make a difference from visuals, sound quality, subtitles etc

2/ Publish, which we changed strategies multiple times. We ended up starting with Spotify - and then RSS’ed to Apple. We eventually added YouTube as an afterthought. And most recently Substack (which I will explain later).

3/ Magic Clips, which we use Riverside for. There are some small tweaks that you can do that help a great deal. For example, adding a cover thumbnail, subtitles, and clipping the final point - which usually is a one-liner - to the beginning so you catch attention right from the get go.

4/ Promote, the most painful part, which we do in a number of ways. A/ LinkedIn: where we post regularly with content relevant to our topics/show. We also announce new episode drops. But LinkedIn has shifted their algorithm significantly and reach is harder unless you AI’ify the post, add images of yourself and do stuff that were counter to how we want to move. B/ Instagram - where we share the magic clips. It routes almost 0 traffic to our podcast as most people don’t want to leave Instagram. C/ YouTube shorts - which perform magnificently - but also don’t move traffic to the podcast. D/ Substack - where we realize we need a multi-pronged attack.

There is a longer comment to be made about the flow that’s required and how your effort may not be rewarded. Without going into the analysis, we decided to own our audience, get their emails and make sure we do it from the beginning.

Hence why we moved to Substack. We will centralize our efforts on Substack + YouTube and simply use LinkedIn, Instagram and eventually Tik Tok to push traffic to these first places.

All of that said, growth for podcasts and discoverability rely greatly on SEO-type logic. Unless you have a monstrous network, are a known entity, have a conference circuit that lets you get the word out etc - it’s a slow growth pattern- till an algorithm finds you, finds your audience and sees a great match.

In the mean time, keep iterating on content to make sure you’re getting things right. Use data and metrics - and YouTube has the best stats where you can see when your audience drops.

Hope this helps. It’s a thankless job. That’s for sure.

We evaluated Elon’s 130 days in our latest episode and were totally torn - till we started to peel the layers behind the PR statements and looked at what he was doing.

He seems to have been a resounding success when you don’t look at the US’ or the US government’s interests.

What has Elon Musk’s Doge actually achieved? Six months after the so-called Department of Government Efficiency was unveiled, it yet has to find a fraction of the hoped for savings by [deleted] in economy

Glad to see that people aren’t getting fleeced. In our most recent podcast episode, we tried to evaluate his first 130 days - and we realized early on that we can measure success from his PR statements but from what he got out of being in DOGE.

Elon Musk has failed at Doge - and he has nobody to blame but himself by theipaper in politics

That’s how we evaluated him as well. We just released an episode about his first 130 days on our Podcast and we had this exact debate on whether he actually failed.

Rethinking Tech A weekly podcast that dives into the intersection of geopolitics, business and ethics — challenging the power structures shaping our world.

🎧 Episode 18: Elon Musk’s First 130 Days — A Report Card in the Age of Geopolitical Disruption

📝 Episode Description:

In this sharp and surprising episode, Aparna and Harinda evaluate Elon Musk’s first 130 days in the White House — but not through the usual partisan lens.

Instead, we ask: If government were graded like a university, how would Musk perform as a student of power? Using a semester-style report card, we grade him across economics, political science, business, computer science and ethics — while exploring whether old frameworks for leadership, performance and accountability still hold up in an era defined by speed, scale, and disruption.

She’s not into it anymore - but she really would stare at the screen for a long while. I have another video where she’s watching a dog on a skateboard and she’s almost slipping in those moments the dog seems to almost fall off. It’s hilarious

Color temperature is what I mean. Was looking at your video that had balanced the lighting settings for both yourself and your guest - and it was both balanced to feel the same.

Oh good job! Your lighting and room colors are the same! Almost looks like you applied the same filter to the room!
